• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Very bad front-end vibration

After all is said and done, my best guess is its Belt Chatter Vibration. I have Tried all the tricks, and read all the threads and after getting front wheels spun balanced at a Tire shop, plus Lazar alignment on my new 2016 RT Limited, and having my Dealer adjust the Belt tension to try and...

Are Spyders super sensitive to road crown?

In case you don't have a Belt Tensioner installed on your 2016, you might want to visit the Belt Tensioner threads here. My 2016 RT Limited has 1600 miles on it, and a Belt Tensioner along with Lazer Alignment and wheels balanced have reuced my shake, along with using the SOFT setting on the Air...

    BRP belt tensioner

Road Kill, I put 55,400 almost, trouble free miles on my 2012 RT Limited that I traded for this new left over 2016. Yes, there are little annoyances, and things to keep you thinking, but after riding 2 Wheelers for 40 years until I hit 70 and was having knee, ankle, back problems. I could hardly...

    Doc Humphries Vibration Damper

For your information, I had my Spark Plugs changed by a Dealer along with new Wires at 32,000 miles on my 2012 RT. I looked at the old ones removed, and they looked almost new! They were not burnt at all, and might have went another 30,000 miles. But, I changed them any way. The OEMs must have...

    BRP belt tensioner

I installed Doc's Kit #3 on my 2016 RT Limited today. I have never even changed my oil before, in my 2012, but was determined to install this Kit. Removing the Tupperware to access the location to install the kit was the hardest. ( for me ) figuring out how to unlock the Push Pins were the...

    BRP belt tensioner

I ordered mine from Doc. Today, for my new 2016 RT Limited. I read most of the posts about belt vibration, and have become convinced that is what is causing my vibration, ( extreme ) between 60-75 MPH. My Dealer said his Tech told him other RTs do the same as mine. I had it Laser Aligned, and...

Are Spyders super sensitive to road crown?

This is an interesting Thread I might be able to add a little experience to. I just traded in my 2012 RT Limited with 55,400 miles on the clock, for a new, left over RT Limited SE 6. I had 47,000 miles worth of shaking, wandering , to both right or left, with my 2012, and never had it Laser...

To Get Valves Adjusted or Not on 998?

I just hit 54,000 miles on my 2012 998 V-Twin today, and have never had the valves checked or adjusted. From my understanding, if valves with solid lifters need adjustment, then parts are usuually worn, bent, and need replacement, not just adjustment. My motto is, if it ain't broke, don't fix...

    998cc VS 1330cc engines

998s are not ready to send to the Bone Yard. After reading this tread, I am appreciating my 998 V-Twin more than ever! My 2012 RT Limited is close to 53,000 miles on the clock, and running great. Looking at Trade in value from Dealers, I'd have a hard time being offered 10 Grand for it on a new...

    RT brake questions.......

I ride Solo on a 2012 RT. I have 49,000 miles on it, and change the rear pads every rear tire change, which is about 15,000 miles. I can tell when they need changing. The parking brake takes longer to engage. I changed the front brake pads only once, at about 30,000 miles. I had them checked at...

    Reliability on the 2016 Spyders

I have a 2012 RT Limited. It has 49,000 miles on it. Only issue was Throttle Bodies changed out on Waurentee at 12,700 miles. Other wise, no issues other than front end alignment. Finally had Laser alignment which seems to have fixed the front tire inner wear. Oil consumption is now about one...

Spyder Tech School last days "full version"

Thanks for this great Crash Course on why us old Chopper week end wrenches should not gasp after seeing our Maintence Bills from Dealers that work on our Spyders for us! I sure appreciate my 2012 RT Limited even more, after reading the 3 day Tech School Training! 47,000 miles and counting, with...

    BATTERY LIFE

I have a 2012 RT Limited I bought new in Jan., 2012. I got a full 5 years out of my battery, with 47,000 miles on it. Not bad! I ride year around, and keep a Battery Tender on it only in the Winter cold weather. The battery wend dad and would not take a charge. I had to get AAA to trailer it to...

Anyone get a "what's it worth" e-mail from BRP?

I Bit I got the email, and Bit. I knew the Trade in Value VS Retail Value on my Spyder, so was not surprised when it came in with a $2000.00 spread between Low and high trade in Value against a new 2017 Rt Limited. Only problem is, their High Value Trade in was $4000 less than KBB Retail Value.

3 Wheels vs 2 Wheels - My Story

Deer hit I hit my first Deer today on my 2012 Spyder RT. I was doing about 45-50, and it came out of no where! I never saw it at all until It tumbled in to the ditch after I hit it. It looked like both of its back legs were broken. I untangled its legs, but they were limp. It was scared. I...

Rotax 998 Reliability Phosphor Bronze in Oil

Sorry Bob. I meant to say Mike. 😇 I'd think you have plenty of experience on a 998 Engine with 18,000 miles. I bought my 2002 Kawi Vulcan 1500 new, and thought I rode the crap out of it. I had it for 10 years, and only put 27,000 miles on it when I traded it in on my 2012 RT. I took my RT out...

Rotax 998 Reliability Phosphor Bronze in Oil

Experience Hey Bob, I never saw the post asking for mileage. Why the Knee Jerk? Would you cut me enough slack to admit logging 42,000 miles on my 2012 998 Spyder grants me enough experience to respond to a question on the same engine? Or,....do you consider being a daily poster grants you more...

Rotax 998 Reliability Phosphor Bronze in Oil

Bronze flakes in engine No one asked how many miles are on this engine. Wouldn't this be an important considerstion to know before diagnoses of problems? Also, the clutch shares the same oil. If there were bad oil filters, metal flakes in the oil would also effect the clutch discs. My 2012 RT...
