• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    RT Service.

You’re right about Dealers not wanting to do Warrantee work. Why should they, when the are limited to doing the absolute minimum BRP will agree to, in order to do Band Aid patch up repairs that might last long enough until the Warrantee expires. I doubt that ANY Dealer will work on Warrantees...

    28,000 mile maintenance

RICZ,....It was $778.00, but I brought my own Mobil One Motorcycle Racing Oil in, as I always do. They supply all the other stuff, like Gaskets, Filters, Washers, etc. They also checked for rust on the Sprocket at that time, and found none, yet the Sprocket failed 3000 later! They also adjusted...

    28,000 mile maintenance

I recently had my 2016 RT Limited done at 31,000 miles. I had all the Filters changed, Full Synthetic Mobil 1 Racing Oil, and new Iridium Spark Plugs. I asked my Dealer to save all the parts, so I could see and decice on future Services. The Tranny Filter was real dirty and definitely needed...

Can Am Ryker 900 Hard Fact’s - Mike Mas

This is still off topic, but just in case any one, especially Off Roaders with Rykers ready to go off road, over rocks and through mud holes, here is the Link to my Alaska TomCar Tour. I was driving, and my wife did a few short video clips with her phone and put it on Youtube later. Actually...

Can Am Ryker 900 Hard Fact’s - Mike Mas

A few years ago, while I was vacationing in Alaska, I took two Off Road Day Tours, with Off Road ATVs, Side by Sides with Steering Wheels, with my wife. The first day Tour was with the latest Kawasaki ATVs, which I thought were pretty hot. UNTIL the following day, when our Group all had the...

    Front Sprocket Failure

Makes sense, Greybeard. But if true, than BRP should just come clean, and say the Sprockets are purposely not hardened, and will never be hardened, for the reason you state. Lying to us, who are stripping Sprocket splines, will never build good Customer Relationships or confidence in trusting...

Can Am Ryker 900 Hard Fact’s - Mike Mas

For you Guys & Gals that are hyping your Ryker’s Off Road and Mud capabilities, as well as Street transportation and fun, I can’t imagine how any one could compare buying a Ryker for Off Road Trail riding ,when for almost the same money, you could but the Outlander...

    Front Sprocket Failure

According to this interesting Article, Cast Iron usually is difficult to accept Welding, so trying to weld the Cast Iron Sprocket to the hardened steel shaft would be counter productive. How ever, the Article says that the Cast Iron can be hardened by Heat Treating, followed by rapid cooling...

    Front Sprocket Failure

If the Part Number has not changed, do you think BRP just BSes the Dealers and lies about the Sprocket now being hardened? If so, how in the world can we trust them ,or believe any thing they tell us? I have known my Dealer Tech for seven years, and have a friendly relationship with him. I...

    Front Sprocket Failure

Even Cast Iron can be Heat Treated to harden it. It was done in many of the Metal Finishing Shops I worked for, in my past. It depends on the Composition of the Metal. Baking in Ovens using Nitrogen circulation will reduce Heat Scale Build up on the parts, and dipping the parts in Oil right out...

    Front Sprocket Failure

That was once all the Warrantees expired and I was on my own. But had the Sprocket been welded on to the Shaft this time, the Dealer would not have helped me. Hopefully, BRP really HAS come up with a new improved version of the Pulley, which is Heat Treated Steel, and will solve the ongoing...

    What's Wrong with the Ryker?

So is my Chevy! I just bought a Red Camaro 2 SS with 455 H.P. and every conceivable option on it available, including Sun Roof, GPS and Navigation, Heads Up Information Display, Magnetic Drive, Auto Tranny with Manual Override Paddle shift, leather seats, 9 speaker Bose Stereo System, Cruise...

    Front Sprocket Failure

I took the Spyder out of the Shop with out any Paper Work , and was told to put some miles on it next week while the Service Mgr. is on Vacation, then we will catch up. He didn’t want me to loose another week of riding while he was on Vacation. I expect to eventually receive the proper Paper...

    Front Sprocket Failure

Progress Update: Well, Folks, I picked up my Spyder from my Dealer today, and put 100 miles on it after they did another “ FIX” on Warrantee per BRP Factory instructions. My diagnosis was correct. The Sprocket splines were stripped again, so BRP authorized another new Sprocket, supposedly...

    RT Transmission Issues

I also have a 2016 RT Limited that is in the Shop right now, waiting for my BRP “ Case” to be reviewed. I just called my Dealer an hour ago, who has had my Spyder for 3 weeks now, and says the Transmission needs to be removed in order to determine the next step. My RT has 33, 500 miles on the...

    Was a Spyder a Mistake?

I never got rid of either Spyder ....,because I never was ready to cut my losses, ......as long as I could either keep what I had running, or up grade to the next Hyped Model. That’s exactly what I did with the 2012 , i.e. upgraded it to the 2016. But I can afford to pay to Service my Spyders...

is it ok to wear shorts driving a can am spyder?

Utah Pete,.......Doc Humphrey would differ from you. Revisit 3 months of his daily reports of his Wife’s riding with out protective clothing or helmet on her 3 WHEEL SPYDER, and how she FLEW off her Spyder, when she hit a deer, and ended up with severe ROAD RASH among other Traumas. If I recall...

    Drinking and Riding

FWEIW,...I quit drinking April 1977, going Cold Turkey, no Meetings, just sick & tired of hang overs. I have never touched another drop since. Staying sober has rewarded me in many, many ways. I should have been dead riding my Scooter drunk, when I’d see 4 headlights coming at me on the road...

is it ok to wear shorts driving a can am spyder?

There are only 2 kinds of Motorcycle Riders. Those that have been down, and those who have not been down YET. I also have been down, several times, but never broke any bones. I went down on my 1982 Yamaha XS-1100 on an off road Trail when I hit a pot hole and got scuffed up pretty bad. I went...
