• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Indoor Breathable storage cover

Only $85? Your version of "only" must be different than mine. I didn't pay $85 for an Ultraguard rain cover from Lamonster Garage that has never failed to keep the Spyder dry. But then for garage storage I'm happy with the the 2nd hand sheet I got from the thrift store for $2. Glad you...

In 1977 Debby Boone sang You Light Up My LIFE

Nice idea for being seen, but that would sure annoy The Admiral if it was on my helmet as it would be right in line with her nose. Now on a backseater's helmet or if you were riding solo, it would let folks know you're there. Not sure about the legality of continually flashing red lights from a...

Camping with the Spyder and the Spyder

Dad was a teacher just south of the Twin Cities, so he had at least some of the summers off. When I was 6, in 1962, Dad started to take me up to the area canoeing along the Sawbill and Gunflint trail for an annual trip. When I was 15 we were both offered jobs a fishing guides at Sawbill Lodge...

Camping with the Spyder and the Spyder

LOL - Back in the mists of time, I did motorcycle camping by making a bivvy with a small tarp over the bike. I moved up to a jungle hammock to keep me dry and the bugs away, then to a 1 person pup tent. Camped with hiking gear, light and small to keep it manageable on a bike. Got married and got...

Camping with the Spyder and the Spyder

Went camping near Owensville, MO for the last 2 weeks. Put close to 200 miles a day on the RTL on some of the curviest ribbon roads (that's what my wife calls roads that are up and down hills) in some of the most scenic parts of the Ozarks. Lots of wineries, some breweries, Octoberfest in...

    Install 12V power outlet help

I added extra power outlets that bypass the nanny by adding a fuse block in the frunk behind the carpet and just above the battery. The post doesn't show it, but I have since run a wire to the rear trunk and added a 12 volt cigarette lighter style outlet back there. Also have one on the Spyder...

    Homemade Drink Holder

Nice job! I like how you used a clutch/brake clamp mount bolted onto the drink holder. What did you use as a backer inside of the drink holder to prevent the bolts from pulling through? Also did you cover the bolt heads inside to keep from scratching up the cup? We have an RTL, and use 24oz...

To kill or not to kill (switch), that is the question

In bygone years of my youth in the 1970's I took the MRF Basic Motorcycle Safety course. There they recommended to always use the kill switch to shut down a motorcycle. The reason was to build muscle memory in case of an emergency - if something happens and the bike needs shutting down it will...

HowTo: DIY: 2020 RT chin light (Technically called the "auxiliary" light)

For tapping into and splicing wires I like the Posi products. Easy to use, easy to take apart if needed and reusable. https://www.posi-products.com/

SO.... you need a drink holder

An $8500 drink holder? I'd like to see one of those.

    I've been robbed!

Most covers for the specific model Spyder you have will come with the appropriate openings for antennas. We got the Ultraguard cover from Lamonster Garage. It has an opening on each side covers with a flap that closes with velcro if it isn't used. Also went with the stubby antenna. That didn't...

I get a strange vibration at higher speeds...

Our 2018 RTL does the same thing at about the same MPH. The trikes we ride have a very long belt, and at certain RPM's a vibration is set up that can be felt through the bars and seat. I can make it stop by backing off or adding to the throttle, but when it returns to a steady speed and to that...

    I have a pleasant problem

We were in the same boat, too many motorcycles and not enough riding of them. Without delving into the reasons one is getting ridden or not, I would say go with the one that you naturally gravitate to these days. What do you use more? We had a Harley FLHS I rode and loved for 28 years, but it...

lamonster clip on bottle holder ?'s

I made a clamp on holder from RAM parts for the backseater. Gloria just has me put it on where it isn't in her way. It is on the right handhold, and she always gets on from the left.

    Drive through windows

Drive up is no problem. Most don't know what vehicle you're in or on until you get to the pay window. If they do have a camera out at the ordering station they should be tipped when they see I am wearing a motorcycle helmet.

    Sheep skin seat cover opinions

Some swear by sheepskin, some don't. If you aren't sure about spending $100 or more on an experiment, check out Ikea. They have sheepskins for about $30 for Rens, Sejerby or Smidie, and $50 for the larger Sejling. (I don't even pretend to understand Ikea's naming conventions.)...

If Honda built a better tryke, would you buy it ??

Re: Sturgis trikes, canamjhb quotes, in part - But, big problem. The Manufacturer of Sturgis pulled all of their kits from the U.S. There was an overheating problem because that nicely shaped frunk did not allow enough air to get to the Goldwings radiators. So it looked good, was a fine...

Anybody make Passenger floor board extensions?

Pierre from Can Am Spyder Accessories has some to raise the passenger foot boards up. Here's a video- https://www.canamspyderaccessories.com/rt-passenger-risers/ You might could call or email him to see if they would work or be adaptable to an F3.

If Honda built a better tryke, would you buy it ??

More than you probably want to know about Lehman Trikes: Lehman began in a Canadian garage in 1985, and was one of, if not the first to be building trike conversion kits. Most trikes were automobile based, most using a VW bug engine, into the 1990's. HD had the Servicar based on a 45ci Flathead...

    Back rest in an accident

I can't see the rider backrest on a Spyder, or any trike, being a safety hazard in case of an accident. I would think a backrest will be safer, as it may keep you in place for a short time and keep your body from flailing around while the initial impact is happening. On a 2 wheeler many...
