• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you mount your phone to the Spyder?

I have used Ram Mounts for years on many bikes and with a suction mount in the car/truck. The first thing I made for the 2018 RTL was a mount that goes between the bars just above the switches. I used a few longer bolts and some stainless spacers from Lowes, a bridge cut out of a piece of angle...

    2018 RT Limited Customer Circuit

On our 2018 RTL there is a rubber plug on the left (shifter side) of the battery cover in the frunk. behind the plug are 2 spade connectors, one "-" and the other "+" to add an accessory. (I used them to energise a solenoid for a fuse block) In the rear trunk, again on the left side, is a 2...

    Helmet Holders

Dredging up this old thread, I tried a few of the above suggestions. To prevent the tupperware from chafing I put some adhesive back protective sheet where the holder rubs on the bodywork. I used the clear 3M stuff. If we think we further need to protect the helmets (and the Sena 20s units)...

    What are these connections for

I used those 2 white connectors to energize a solenoid to run a 6 position power distribution block. The power to the outlets I put on comes from the battery, so it bypasses the CAN bus system and doesn't confuse the nanny. Here is a link on how I set it up...

    head light modulator

Here is a clip of the Spyderpops LED Bumpskid with the remote control. This setting is my basic daytime running, at night I set the remote to have the LED's steady on and drop the brightness to 25%. I asked at the police office and they said as it just going bright to dim, not turning on and...

    Rear seat armrest...

Gloria found the stock seat was slippery. She tried different texture pants, but under spirited braking she slid forward even when holding on to the passenger rails. That ended when we got a custom seat made in fabric. She still uses the grab rails for lateral stability, but she doesn't scoot...

    Why the Ryker feels "Fast"

A lot of it is about rider feeling and capabilities of the vehicle. I have test ridden a Kawasaki Ninja, a great handling motorcycle that is capable of immediate confiscation of bike and suspension of licence type speeds. I couldn't come close to using that machine at the limits of its...

    head light modulator

Here is a short video for a headlight modulator. This video starts out with a brake modulator that flashes 5 times then goes steady when the brakes are applied. This draws awareness of following drivers that something is happening in front of them. The headlight modulator draws attention to the...

    head light modulator

And that's the point - to be noticed. When the laws first came out that motorcycles had always on headlights bikes stood out. More and more 4 wheelers now have always on headlights so the motorcycles get lost in the lights behind them. The modulators make the light stand out and draw attention...

Do you use motorcycle parking spaces?

Depends on circumstances. The Spyder is a motorcyle, so I can park in motorcycle spaces, but most places don't have dedicated motorcycle spaces so it it usually in the car spaces. The RTL has handicap plates as Gloria has bad knees and trouble from a former car wreck, so if she is along we park...

    head light modulator

A few years ago where I live (SW Missouri/NW Arkansas) a car driver pulled out in front of a motorcycle. Luckily no injuries from the accident, but when asked, the driver said, "I saw him, but he flashed his lights for me to go." He mistook the headlight modulator as a signal, common in this...

    Legal

I am a member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) , Freedom of Road Riders (FORR) in Missouri (Same as ABATE in other states) and the Motorcycle Rider's Foundation (MRF). The purpose of this letter is not to define an autocycle or motorcycle, but to urge us, the constituents, to...

    PTT to Garage Opener

I went to Lowes and got a keychain remote for our opener. It is small and light, I used industrial strength velcro and attached it to the dash visor under the safety card. That velcro is strong, had a time getting it out for the picture to show the size next to the RTL key.

    GPS "reset" scheduled for Saturday

Garmin's statement on the Week Number Rollover. Most likely won't affect more recent devices, especially if they have been updated regularly. https://support.garmin.com/ms-MY/?faq=zWQY6Z2kFiAuY9kDnDBgZ6

Does 2018 RT have GPS connector under seat?

I'd be interested to know about the GPS power under the seat. I, too, haven't been able to find them. I power our GPS from a USB rocker switch port just below the handlebars or a lighter port on a Lamonster Cuff on the left handlebar, depending on where I mount the GPS. The DC power...

    GW Trike vs Canam (Trike)

Hey bikerbillone! I know you from the Trike Talk site, I'm Ozarkryder over there, too. We still have our '04 Champion trike, and have toured from SW MO to Minnesota, Iowa, Maggie Valley SC, Texas and such. We usually did 600 - 700 miles a day and the Wing has been pretty solid. We found many...

What kind of Cup holder do you have?

We use Bubba Hero Sport Bottles, either 16, 20 or 24 oz. - we have a few of each size. The Sport Bottle version has a flip-up straw that seals the bottle when closed, and with a straw I don't have to tip it up blocking sightlines when hydrating as we ride. Cold drink and 5 regular size square...

    Ucomfortable corbin seat.

A Corbin came on the GL1500 trike we had. Both of us absolutely hated it. We had a Diamond Custom seat we loved made to our measurements. We couldn't give away the Corbin. Got another Diamond with we got a GL1800 trike, and now we have another Diamond on our 2018 RTL. There are a bunch of places...

PLEASE BRP! It's time for an RT refresh!

I have a 28 year old Harley FLHS that most folks that aren't HD aficionados can't easily tell from a new Road King. Heck, at a quick look Harleys haven't changed much in half a century. Same with our GL1800 trike. Same basic style for 17 years, and 13 years for the 1500 before it. Touring...

    Newbie Confused About Luggage

From years of bivvy camping and in tents, a Bunkhouse motorcycle camper, and now a 5th wheel toy hauler we have accumulated many ditty bags, duffel and (mostly) waterproof dry sacks. We choose the bags we pack for each trip depending on what we are taking for that journey. Much more flexible...
