• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder fires

Overfilling will cause the gas smell for sure. Even out here in the desert, the gas is super cold going in. The, things heat up and expand and get into the canister and stink for days. I know we all like to get as much gas in as possible, but that's a huge cause of the reports we read about...

    Thermal event

I wouldn't worry about your 2012 much. The heat issues on 2013s are way different than those of earlier models.

    Insurance question

makes total sense. Believe it or not, my only other insurance experience was with my dad wrecking his truck 30 years ago. (we've been lucky) The same insurance company covered all items on the truck at the time, including the camper shell, tools, new tires, etc... My original question seems...

    Thermal event

Ann, not sure i can add anything to what has been said. Genuinely glad you are physically unharmed, though without a doubt rattled by the event. Looking forward to seeing you back here after things settle down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Insurance question

I won't bash the company. Just trying to figure out what the facts are. The policy isn't on a Spyder, but a BMW R1200GS. crash protection is pretty much a must on those and almost all have them. They just don't come that way from the factory. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Insurance question

Is it normal for insurance companies to refuse paying for damaged accessories on motorcycles, even if such accessories were added for protection? With a recent accident, a family member has been getting the full run around and being told accessories are included on snow mobiles, atvs etc., but...

    Good Days and Bad

Sorry to hear about your thumb. Your luck sounds as good as mine and your timing spot on. I broke my thumb right before we moved, so I had to do everything gimpy style. I managed to move three full sized U-hauls with one other to help, then hung 23 sets of blinds, installed ceiling fans...

Spyder RT cuts off while traveling and at stop lights .

Kill switch or a bad console is my thought as well. I'm pretty sure the dealer told me it made seething like a Bluetooth connection. It may be a line, but I had to gave both swapped to eliminate the surprise visits from the kill fairy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Spyders are by no means the only ones with slow boot ups. More and more machines are taking their sweet time as more software is being added. Just looked at a K1600GTL that took plenty long to boot Just no button to push to acknowledge the safety card. Cars are that way too, only we can...

A bit more respect for Tupperware!?

I guess I should have included their complaints were in temps above 80, much like some of our own. Not sure what the temps were when you were driving Ted's sled around, but that may be why. Seriously, I wasn't trying to make a case that engines are hot. I just found it interesting that the...

A bit more respect for Tupperware!?

True, but the same doesn't seem true with the bigger Boxer GS or the smaller GS bikes. Are you trying bust my light bulb?:joke: It just went on!:roflblack:

I was a body and paint guy when Yugos were being sold and I can honestly say the best part about them is you could rip the damaged fenders off with your bare hands. They just took a good tug! Saved the shop a ton of man hours not having to use tools. :roflblack: One of it's redeeming values...

A bit more respect for Tupperware!?

I was listening to the sales people pitch the BMW F800GS over the R1200GS to my bro-in-law who is now in the market for a new bike after his recent crash. I won’t get into the details of the pitch, because it’s pretty irrelevant, but noticed the F800GS comes with a Rotax engine. It peaked my...

Don't know why these things ruffle our feathers so much. Glad there are different options out there. To each his own. It's actually way cheaper to love what you have and hate all others. Way narrower minded and superior than thou too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Exhaust wrapping round 2

A-1. Amazon has a pretty good selection and prices. A-2. I used the 2"x50' Thermo Tec Copper, because it's super soft and easy to work with, is applied dry and doesn't require a seal coating. The DEI Titanium wrap has been pretty popular among many SL members as well. A-3. The 1" goes around...

Right side heat routing new ideas.

I have no idea how you do that with boots and no mods. I went from super thick boots to even thicker boots and all that happened is my left foot got way hotter with the sun beating down on it. The right foot cooked off just the same as before! I got the issue resolved with mods finally...

    2012 vs. 2013

The Brembo brakes are nice, but you have the option to upgrade the rotors and pads for 30% improvement with the Kit BajaRon sells, so the improvement from the 2013 becomes less noticeable there too.
