• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Best way to check rear wheel alignment at home

The only check for rear wheel alignment is the drive belt alignment. The specs put it almost dead center on the rear pulley, but some folks like to run it a little closer to the inside flange. If your belt is there, your rear wheel is aligned. LASER alignment is for the front wheels.

    Frustration - rant

Whenever I have a question or small problem, I first stop and think about just how much Can-AM got right. Like a parking apron at the local airport where like models are parked together, SpyderLovers allows us to share the joys and idiosyncrasies of our machines. If they were perfect and...

Is your spyder shaking, start with the belt tensioner. Now on to Tires!

Depending on how (rotational position) the rear pulley is fitted to the hub, high/low tension readings can vary +/- 0# or +/- 20# on my RT. When it's correct (+/- 0#) there's no vibration; when it's wrong (+/- 20#) belt tension doesn't matter and it vibration is horrendous. I position the...

5 people and 24 tacos got 'er done

Les Schwab's (western tire store chain) has my Spyder listed as a 'custom vehicle'. They do all the mounting, road force balancing and needed repairs. They will NOT work on motorcycles, but 'custom vehicles' are just fine. They occasionally see me ride in on the Spyder, so they 'know', but...

Ric, they'll remember that day forever! What a great gift -- I'm looking at my Spyder (and other stuff) differently now...

Schuberth M1 SRC (cardo) com units DOA

Thus far I've had six SRC com units (four from Revzilla, two from Cycle gear) and only one of those has worked. That is, only one of them would charge right out of the box. The one that worked was part of a 'duo' set and in order to get the bad one replaced, both had to be returned to...

Trail braking while turning hard left

Trail braking is the way of life on two wheels. The foot (at least my foot) is just not precise and accurate enough to make it happen on a Spyder. I miss it and the fine level of control a hand lever provides. It's one of the things I had to give up when changing to a Spyder. But, I still...

Recommend any Wind deflectors for 2020 RT?

I find them almost as good as the stock 'fixed' deflectors in the cold. Just a bit more 'leaky'.

    2020 RTL burning smell

Just looked at my notes. The burning rubber smell on my 2020 went away at exactly 4737 miles. That's when I pulled the cat and put on an RLS cat delete pipe. 100% the smell was the cat.

Broken backrest - is something missing? Any ideas?

Took the LinQ backrest out of the box and tried to install it on the LinQ rack. When I turned the lever it popped apart and while I can put the parts back together, there is nothing to hold them together or in place. I assume something is missing. Any Ideas?

Have you installed Pedal Commander? Where did you mount it? Why?

Mine is stuck to the forward side of the Lamonster steering riser, with the silicon rain cover in place. But, it could be inside someplace just as well. Within a day of use I settled on 'City +4' and haven't changed it since. Was never worth even trying the phone app. City +4 feels just like...

Anyone tried VALVOLINE™ 4-STROKE FULL SYNTHETIC" Motorcycle Oil?

I considered adding the Blackstone 'Universal Average' values, which may be of more useful value, but I didn't want to push Mike over the edge... (/*humor*/). If ever I want to post tabular data, I'll use periods instead of white space. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyone tried VALVOLINE™ 4-STROKE FULL SYNTHETIC" Motorcycle Oil?

Deanna's post had just the Valvoline; I added my T6 results so she could compare the two oils/results. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyone tried VALVOLINE™ 4-STROKE FULL SYNTHETIC" Motorcycle Oil?

With 6053 miles on the T6 it was even less viscous than the Valvoline. Though based on the TBN numbers, it looks like the Valvoline wasn't run as many miles.

    Is this a Nanny Issue?

This is an interesting idea, since I had sealing problems when I installed my RLS pipe in place of the cat. I didn't have leaking problems with the spring/ball joint, but the clamp for the muffler leaked. I could easily hear that when idling, but I never rode it that way. I finally used some...

Anyone tried VALVOLINE™ 4-STROKE FULL SYNTHETIC" Motorcycle Oil?

Your effort is appreciated. Just a thought for your consideration: I used to keep a running total of the amount of fuel consumed and used that (as well as time) to determine the oil change interval. Fuel consumed has many other factors included, such as long idling periods and heavy handed...

Another one bytes the dust... Front Sprocket Failure - Red Dust!

When I replaced my pulley, I was surprised at how small the splines were, considering all the power they must transmit. On a number of occasions I've seen mechanical designs that were great on paper, but failed in the real world -- even when there was a large design margin over the calculated...
