• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2016 RT - any suggestions for a longer lasting rear tire? estimated mileage?

If I were getting 18k from my Yokohamas, I'd be overjoyed. The one I'm replacing tomorrow made it to the wear bars in 7k miles. The Kuhmo before that made it to 9k. This time it'l be an asymmetric 205/65R15 with a 740 utqg 92H -- the last was 215/60R15 with a 620 utqg 94H. Hoping for mileage...

2016 RT - any suggestions for a longer lasting rear tire? estimated mileage?

I found a tire website that had a simple formula that confirms and supports these pressures on a Spyder. Divide the max load rating of the tire by the max pressure to get the pounds load per pounds inflation ratio. Divide that into the load on the tire to get your starting inflation and adjust...

Will an a/mkt belt tensioner fix Drive noise 48-55mph? 2020 RTL

Yea, mine did it in spades. Belt alignment helped, but the white pulley fixed it completely. Best return for $105 yet.

    1330cc Regarding K&N CM-1314 Air Filter

I considered changing filters to K&N, but after reviewing some filtration tests I decided to stay with the stock paper filtration medium. In my distant enduro riding past, grease was used to coat the sealing surfaces of foam filters to achieve the necessary seal to the air box. It was very...

Recommend any Wind deflectors for 2020 RT?

They're not AC, but they do help. It used to get uncomfortable at 90°, but now with the deflectors 'open' I can go to about 100°. They help keep air moving around the legs -- not sure they'll have any effect for the passenger. Money well spent for me.

Back and neck pain after Ultimate seat - anyone else? Fix?

:agree: I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Who is using a Pedal Commander? What do you think of it?

To some extent it depends on your past riding experience. If you are programmed like I am from years of riding cable operated carbureted bikes, you will like it because it make the throttle behave normally. It eliminates the 1/4 turn almost dead band from the programmed throttle response...

Which one of these RT's to choose?? Choice now made - Deal Done!

One quick consideration, since your riding companion will be on an adventure bike. One of the serious limitations to a Spyder is the belt drive which is very intolerant of gravel roads. If gravel is going to be encountered regularly and the rides tend to be shorter, a Ryker (with a driveshaft)...

Trying to locate a fuel door for '21 RTL - anyone help?

I've never seen one that fits a 2020RT. I just know that my leg rides on the portion of the front seat that is directly over the fuel cap.

Trying to locate a fuel door for '21 RTL - anyone help?

It's difficult and messy to fill or top-up the tank from a fuel can with the seat raised. While a fuel door would be a nice solution, it seems that it may compromise the seat comfort. Eliminating the gas strut that limits the upward travel of the seat and using a link to prop the seat up in a...

Now we need to be on the lookout for E15 gas!

But be sure to balance this 'general advise' with the owners manual statement not to use E15.

Now we need to be on the lookout for E15 gas!

Add to that the destruction of the habitat in the Mississippi river and the Gulf from all the corn farm runoff. If they were actually interested in improving the environment instead of profit, they'd end all ethanol production now.

    Leaving key in ignition

On my truck keeping the key in keeps the Body Computer module turned on. Like a dog, it thinks were going to go for a ride. Takes a few days, but it does kill the battery eventually. There is no current drain on the Spyder when the key is in and off -- I checked.

To kill or not to kill (switch), that is the question

The potential consequence of one poorly timed bump of that switch outweighs any dogmatic insistence on its use. I've considered using a drop of epoxy to disable it -- guess I can be overly dogmatic too. But, my decisions only effect me...

To kill or not to kill (switch), that is the question

Those switches were mandated around 1970±2. They were for emergency responders -- they standardized the way a motorcycle could be shut off in the case of an incident. From then on all bikes had a red switch on the right handlebar. In the early days they just cut off the sparks. Many, many...

2020+ Front Lower LED Light comparison

In this part of the country deer and elk are the biggest safety concern when riding at night. I'd like a light pattern that puts significant light on the shoulders of the road. My car and truck fog lights do a good job illuminating the sides of the road. Is there a chin light that...

Torque settings for the rear rotor, caliper, and axle nut on 2013?

And the desired tension is reached at a significantly lower torque when the threads are lubricated. 165 down to 132 per https://www.engineersedge.com/calculators/torque_calc.htm

Torque settings for the rear rotor, caliper, and axle nut on 2013?

I suggest a little internet searching about reduced torque for lubricated fasteners. I use anti-seize on the nut axle and washer, which seems to eliminate the alignment changing when tightening. I've also through drilled the axle and use a split pin (Cotter). Some sources suggest a reduction...

Best way to check rear wheel alignment at home

-OR- you could read the service manual. 3-5mm from flange, but each is welcome to their own opinion. At 4mm the belt looks centered on the pulley. My belt moves toward the flange when reversing -- from what I've read here, most move outboard. These observations apply to my 2020RT.
