• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RTS ate a belt today!!! Teeth missing!

Seems to me the likely cause includes a faulty belt and 'super clean'. You need to take a close look at the condition of the rear tire. If the 'super clean' is attacking some component of the belt, the rear tire may also be degraded. Look at it for checking or any other deterioration -- could...

2020 RT - front seat won't stay raised - any solutions?

I'm waiting for mine to die. When it does, it will be removed and replaced with a small wood dowel (stored under the seat) to prop it open. I currently use the dowel for things like adding air to the suspension, since the gas cylinder doesn't hold the seat far enough open. The only reason I...

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

Test Day... Today I had a 70 mile errand to run on roads I don't normally ride. There was a stretch of new road at about 30 miles that was flat, smooth and true, so I decided to test the E-stop behavior under ideal conditions. First from 40 mph, then 60 and 70 the Spyder stopped straight and...

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

I appreciate the sentiment, but it doesn't dive off to one side. Where I'm headed is unpredictable -- I think it has more to do with the road irregularities than any brake problem. But it's worth a look at them to see if there are any clues. You may be right on about the 'nuts' thing though...

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

That's a great suggestion. As soon as the weather changes from Fall to Winter I'm doin' the brakes, looking for clues.

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

First, thanks for the thoughtful response. The RT is stock with the exception of Vredestein front tires 20,000 miles ago and a Yokohama on the rear. Normal stops are squeaky but straight. It hasn't jumped completely out of a lane, but a wheel will cross the line (either side) during the...

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

In 24,000+ miles I've learned about the characteristics/quirks of my RT's personality. One of the things I noted right from the beginning was the directional instability under hard braking. Accepting this as a characteristic of the vehicle and living with it this long may have been a mistake...

    Moving down a dirt/gravel road

Now that I've started riding gravel/dirt roads on a regular basis, my concern is no longer the belt. Washboard surfaces shake my windshield violently side-to-side and I'm sure the supports are at risk. Lowering it all the way helps, but it still freaks me out... And Peter is right on target...

I know, it's been nearly beat to death, Tires

Absolutely; The intercept is not zero, so it's just a way to get a reasonable starting pressure. How it handles, wears and rides are the biggest factors -- and checking the pressure rise as the tire warms is another good indicator. I think it's a move from "...in my experience..." to a SWAG...

I know, it's been nearly beat to death, Tires

MNF3, the tire rating of 1477# @ 44psi = 33.57#/psi. My load with a 150# single rider is 750# front, 500# rear. Your load is 220# higher (not including gear) than mine. That puts ~110# more on the front and ~110# more on the rear. With a rear load of 610# the starting pressure for the rear...

Many on here know RICZ, I have sad news.

I got to know Ric at a distance through emails, the forum, and from phone conversations. We shared very similar viewpoints on most things in life. He was a good friend and I miss him. When his posts stopped appearing I feared the worst. I just learned of his passing yesterday from one of...

    Riding Spyder on gravel roads???

Peter the Stoic. Epictetus would be proud. Chip seal is the worst. It sticks to the belt and pulleys and does real damage.

Eco mode? NO. Give us Sport mode!

Eco mode is worthless. What the RT needs is Sport Mode instead. Eliminate the lackadaisical throttle response and make it linear with a Sport Mode. It would suit experienced cyclists better than the mollycoddled computer throttle curve. :p Then I wouldn't have had to buy a Pedal Commander.

Oh, the joys of air ride

I'm glad my base RT doesn't have one of these nightmare systems. I'd still like to get rid of the bag and put in a proper spring. One less thing to fail...
