• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    shaft vs belt drive

I suppose other 'things' can occupy the space between the top run of the belt and swing arm. If(?) the designer chose to put things there, that would otherwise be mounted higher up under the seat, you could reduce the seat height. Pretty long stretch, if you ask me... And, I would probably...

What is the belt tension on a 2020 RTL?

My rear pulley has considerable run-out, so there is a lot of difference between the 'tight spot' and the 'loose spot' (~20#). Mine is set to 190# (loose spot) and 210# (tight spot). As I go lower from that setting, the vibration point moves from 75mph down. At 160#, the vibration is at...

What is the belt tension on a 2020 RTL?

It is simply in pounds or Newtons, not foot pounds or Newton Meters. For me, the Krikit only agrees with the sonic measurement if I use the Krikit on the bottom run of the belt. I think it has to do with alignment of the gauge, a straight push, and being centered between pulleys. It's harder...

Front end wobble issue. Please help!

With one front wheel lifted off the ground, try aggressively shaking the tire top to bottom and left to right. If there is any clunking or play, watch at the various suspension/tie rod joints to identify the play. It's likely the failed component. On heavier rigs you may have to use a prybar...

Pay it Forward 2021 RTL bars

I'd like to add one more set of bars to the heap: Can-Am reduced reach 2020RT bars. Way too close for me (I'm 5'5"). If anybody wants 'em, you know what to do. Incidentally, the last pair I shipped cost about $8 (USPS), just wrapped in a plastic w/bubbles bag. Probably be a bit more across...

Any feedback/comments on Driver Foot Board Risers from users?

KX5062 pretty much nailed it. Two additional comments: I can now use the whole floorboard (front to rear); Seat pressure on my thighs is reduced. I have Lamonster's brake pedal riser, and in combination with the boards, I have much better control of the brakes.

    Belt Alignment Problem & Question

Yes, I use the belt frequency to set the tension, and now it even corelates with the Krikit measurements. They measured quite different tensions the first few times I tried it. The phone app WILL NOT measure the belt 'twang' because the frequency range of the Spyder belt is too low in pitch...

Getting ready to attempt belt alignment

Theoretically top or bottom doesn't make a difference. But, I could never get the sonic method and the Krikit to agree on the tension, until I tried it on the bottom of the belt. I think seeing the alignment of the Krikit, and being able to push on it squarely made the difference. If I go...

Getting ready to attempt belt alignment

If you've got a dial or digital caliper, I suggest you use that to measure the belt/flange gap. I find it visually misleading. The spec is 2-5mm, so mid spec is 3.5mm. That makes my belt appear to be centered on the pulley. When I reverse, it moves to the flange and goes back to the same...

Update on (MY) Verdestein QUATRAC5 tire wear Yours may vary

Kenda 165/55R15 rotations per mile 876.9 Vredestein 165/60R15 rotations per mile 884.6 Based on the manufacturer's rpm specs the Vredestein is smaller in diameter than the Kenda. Who know which is actually bigger. If the size spec is inaccurate, so probably is the...

Ryker Range 'Distance to Empty' stopped working??

I don't know what they did. The manual says to measure the resistance in the full and empty positions of the float. The 'miles to empty' is computed by the ECU and it uses the fuel gauge reading at turn-on. It is re-calculated periodically while riding, and depending on what your current fuel...

Ryker Range 'Distance to Empty' stopped working??

I'm awaiting a new sending unit for my RT's fuel gauge. It went totally whacky, both gauge and 'miles to empty'. When the sending unit was diagnosed by the dealer, I requested that my bike not be held for parts. If necessary, I agreed to pay the re-assembly fee to get the bike back. If it...

Lamonster handlebar risers vs Rox risers - any comparison?

Rox are not suitable for a Spyder. Bar forces are too high. No worries with the Lamonster riser. YMMV

Anyone having issues updating your zumo xt gps (garmin)

I updated my Zumo XT and called Garmin when I encountered that particular problem. There was already a service ticket on it when I called, and they are working on it. It's actually a change that happened to Garmin Express. The Garmin tech gave me a work around and I now have the latest maps...

Anyone having issues updating your zumo xt gps (garmin)

If your Zumo is connected to wifi, it can update without the computer. But, you'll have to update the maps on basecamp, too. Call the tech support at Garmin and they will call you back and are very helpful. The simple answer to your question is YES. I've had trouble with Garmin Express and...

Traded RT for 2021 F3 limited!

I've been in 'windshield search hell' before, and it was one of the main reasons I chose my 2020RT. Ricz has seemed to solve the F3 windshield issue, so you may want to search for some of his posts or directly seek his advise. Helmet buffeting is the worst...

Lamonster Garage RT floorboard risers - adapter is here!

I did a 100+ mile ride with the new floorboards today and have a few observations. First, the position is different, mostly taking the pressure off of my inner thighs. I can now use the brake much more smoothly and progressively. The final note is that there is much more wind on my knees...

Lamonster Garage RT floorboard risers - adapter is here!

I had previously installed Lamonster's brake pedal riser, which made use of the brake much easier. My inseam is 28", so the brake pedal was always a stretch before and the seat put more pressure than I like on my inner thigh. The only negative to the floor board riser is the gap on the...

2021 RTL - will first gen F3 bars bring them closer to rider?

I'm 5'5" and the F3 bars were a perfect fix for me. The "short reach" bars came too far back. If you want to try the "short reach" bars, a guy near Prineville has a pair to try, and keep if they work. Be warned that the "short reach" bars require fiddling with the wiring harness ties to get...
