• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    FRONT TIRE WEAR

My 09 GS wore the inner half of both front tires. Worse on the right one that the left. One dealer said the alignment was in spec and gave me the aggressive riding story. Well, I had done a fair amount of mountain twisties so I didn't argue. At about 9500 miles I put new car tires on and had...

Converting the tail lights to LED.. Q's

No Limp mode for me I burned out a tail light last summer and got no msg of any kind. A friendly car driver told me about it. I ran at least 200 miles before changing it with no problems. Now, about changing that bulb. I have the sport rack installed and have read all the misery stories...

    Belt squeal

There was a thread about 2 months ago about greasing the belt. Apparently BRP issued a bulletin explaining the procedure and the proper grease to use. Maybe someone can find it quickly for us. It does sound odd but I think it's supposed to dampen the impact of the cogs entering and leaving...

    Toe alignment?

I had the same My LF tire was almost bald on the inner half while the outer was in great shape. I put new car tires on at about 9500 miles. I also noticed that while going straight down the road my hanlebars were not centered. The dealer aligned it and said it was out by a fair amount. I've...

Do's and Do Nots for passengers

I agree with Arntufun You should also try to ride as a passenger some time. That was quite the education for me. Having the backrest is pretty important. Since you don't lean there are strong forces on an unprepared psgr to 'exit' to the outside of the turn. My co-rider has very short arms...

    Battery Life?

My 09 first sold in Jan of 2009 and has the original battery. This week I started it after it had been parked since the middle of Oct. No charger/tender of any kind. It started right up as if it had been used daily. I was impressed and maybe very lucky. I rode for about 50 miles and rolled...

    What's this?

:agree: I rode a Honda Elite once about 19 yrs ago. It was terrible with no tank between my legs. Took me 10 mins to get out of the driveway. Except for that, the MP3 with the 500cc engine looked very tempting to me. It's pretty roadworthy. A dealer in Boulder CO told me they had one up to...

    Greasing the Belt...

Belt Whistle?? I'm curious about this. I have a noise like a howl. Seems to happen most in the 35 to 45 mph range. Sounds a lot like the noise from straight cut gears. Applying the brakes does not affect it. I wonder if it's the belt since all else seems fine and I'm at 11K miles. Maybe...

Parking brake failed! Think spydee is DOWN and OUT this time!!

To nit-pik a little bit, the SE does stay in gear if you turn the engine off, BUT the clutch is disengaged just like at engine idle. Therefore, the engine won't hold the Spyder. When you go to restart you have to press the brake because you're starting it in gear and that's the time when in...

    License Plate light.

Most any single filament bulb of the same size should work fine. If your original bulb has a candle power or wattage number on it then buy a new one that is the same or less.

    Aluma MC2F Trailer

I haul my RS on a model 638 from Aluma. I run the front wheels up on 2 2 x 6's to make the nose hang over the front rail of the trailer. Works great and tows very easily. An RT may have slightly different dimensions.

I saw 7 Spyders yesterday - Colorado!!! AWESOME!!!!!

Your route for that ride is making me homesick! When I lived in Niwot I was on those roads all summer long. Some of the best riding on the planet! All I need is a lottery win and I'll have a summer place up there in a flash.

    Stoned! My belt that is!!

I agree! :agree: I've owned 2 shaft drive bikes and unless you're running on the bleeding edge they're great. With a good shaft drive on the RT's your mental checklist would be a lot shorter as you cruised cross country.

    A little warm today

The highest I've seen on the Spyder is 114. I can tolerate that pretty well if I'm moving. The Spyder had no problems with it at all. I've never seen it go above 5 bars.

    acknowledging other oncoming bikers

:agree: That rider in the other lane might be very busy as you go by and can't wave. I don't let that bother me. A head nod can be hard to see also unless you are pretty close. Ride on and assume the best.

    What do other bikes get?

My Goldwing Trike got 35mpg pretty regularly for 8 years. My 09 SE5 gets about 35mpg but varies more than the GW did and weighs 500 lbs less. I would think it's pushing less air than the GW too but it is a lot faster off the line etc. I don't think fuel economy was a high priority in the...

Most comfortable riding position.........RS or RT?

I have the RS with the comfort seat, SBFRacing floorboards, and 1" risers (I have quite long arms). A week ago I sat on an RT at the dealer and thought it felt a little cramped. Quite surprised. I hear that the comfort seat for the RT moves you back 2 inches which I would need. Try both...

Hi everyone! Just got my Spyder last weekend...

Your postings are making me homesick. I rode the Peak to Peak for 30 yrs. Can't count the number of times. I'd ride to EP, get coffee at the old MacDonalds card shop and drink it next to the river. Truly the good life. If you haven't found them yet, do try Left Hand canyon from Ward down to...
