• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    screen brightness zumo 660

My RTL came with a GPS screen but it isn't very useful if the sun is overhead or behind you. I've just given up and pop the GPS off its mount (very easy) and use it as a hand-held when necessary. I might add that my riding takes place over a lifetime of territory covered so my use of the GPS...

    BRP Customer Service Issue

Just in case there are some folks who are thinking this is was just an inventory issue let me clear this up. My experience was a human flaw, not just an inventory parts problem. I made an appointment 9 days in advance where a specific part was to be changed out. The dealer's inventory system...

    BRP Customer Service Issue

I basically agree with you but with at least one additional reason - price. These are VERY expensive machines right up there with the big Hardleys and UJM tourers. Both these other genres have large and dedicated followings. Can Am does not. You hit this one on the head. As I sat outside...

    Heat in the "cockpit"

The closed inside of a sedan sitting in the summer sun in my area can easily exceed 140F. And it takes less than an hour to reach that temp.

    BRP Customer Service Issue

When the appointment was made, and needed a known part to complete, the part(s) should have been taken from inventory and placed in a "for use" bin to ensure its availability. I can understand the parts issue on a normal repair service when it may not be known what parts and pieces are needed...

    BRP Customer Service Issue

Example of how NOT to run a business.... I recently took my Spyder in to my local BRP dealer after making the appointment 9 days earlier. On the day the vehicle was supposed to be serviced the advisor called, late in the day, to tell me the necessary part was out of stock but would be obtained...

    Western Trip - 2018

I'm in my 70's and have been biking throughout most of the nation, including the South, my whole life. Never needed to carry a firearm in all that time and don't see the need now. I notice you're from one of the whitest enclaves in the South so perhaps that has something to do with your...

I noticed they were very careful not to get into the jet wash following that large transport.

    Western Trip - 2018

It will be much more comfortable than riding back East, especially before the sun rises and after sundown BUT if you are not used to temps above 95 or so or have any compromising health issues you can get into trouble very quickly. Summer is not the time to be sightseeing in the desert. Plan...

    Western Trip - 2018

Playing tourist through some of the most beautiful country in the land has absolutely nothing to do with a position on the 2nd Amendment.

I go to a neighborhood barber shop owned by a Vietnamese woman and have had some very interesting conversations with her regarding the transition of Viet Nam after the war ended. She goes home once per year, usually around Christmas, to visit her extended family and has put together some photo...

    A long overdue homecoming

Originally, as in colonial times, marines were carried on board naval ships of the line to provide hand to hand fighting capability when boarding an enemy ship and also to provide small arms gunfire aloft. It was carried over from the British navy which was the predominate naval power at the...

    The Blacklist: "Family Business"

Very rarely does a cover exceed the quality of the original and this is a perfect example. In the original, by Simon and Garfunkel, their vocals were not overshadowed by the instrumental backing as in this version. If this version was intended to be a power ballad it also misses the mark as...

US Navy duty stations - picture gallery

We referred to the Forrestal as the "Fireball". USS Ranger was another birdfarm with a dubious safety record. They broke down frequently. Meanwhile the old Ticonderoga just chugged along (although their radio shack wasn't so hot).

Yes, we very rarely had to fire more than 1 or 2 rounds of Willy Peter before the land forces would ask us to "fire for effect". Unfortunately, they happened to call fire down on their own CP somewhere off Da Nang and we hit it on the first shot. The inquiry as to what happened was the reason...
