• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help with 2012 RT mirror removal?

Trying to help a friend with removing the mirrors on his new (to him) 2012 RT. It is his desire to put mirror locks on if they will work but we can't find any videos on either youtube or here on a model this old. We had hoped it was closer to my '13 ST but not even close. Any help on what...

    Motorcycle specific oil source

Whoa, Whoa Whoa....... Lets not get off topic. I'm not talking price or brands. What I am talking about are oils that meet the accepted grades as best for motorcycle (mainly) clutches. All I wanted to do is make others aware of nation wide sources. To some of us that is important.

Be sure you know the CURRENT exchange rate from Euros to dollars.

    Rear Tire Replacement

OK, last year I had all 3 tires "made new" (labor only) for $120 in the Phoenix area. Look for a privateer who has worked on Spyders. They are out there at reasonable prices.

    Motorcycle specific oil source

Just a note to any who may not be aware. I prefer to use motorcycle specific oil in my 998, and I imagine many of you use the same. For those of us who for any reasons want another source other than our dealers, both Auto Zone and O'Rilley auto parts chain stores stock those oils. I have used...

Correct size Airhawk for 2020+ RT?

Isn't the evolution of consumer products interesting. The Airhawk was a truly fine product for year and if the new owner part is true or not, trying to squeeze a few nickels our of the cost by cheapening the product, opens the door for competitors.

New Elka shocks on front 2009 GS

Great. Perhaps they have fixed what ever was causing the problem. As I said earlier, they totally transformed my ST. Just the failure rate has been dissapointing for me. I'm sure you are totally happy with yours.

New Elka shocks on front 2009 GS

S T O P!!!!!! I have Elka stage 2 all around. They handle handle fantastic but have a HORRIBLE failure rate. I am not trying to tell anyone that theirs is doomed to failure but in my searching around this forum and others, the failure rate (leakage) seem around 50 %. I have had my front...

Correct size Airhawk for 2020+ RT?

I'm on number 2. After 6 years, the original Cruiser medium sprung a leak that I couldn't fix. I bought a cruiser R for my ST and though I noticed that the material seemed to be lighter, I am happy so far (less than a year of continuous use). Neither the wife or I would ride without them. I...

    oil check , confused

At the risk of sounding like a cheerleader, I love this 998. I have accepted this ridiculous system of oil checking and pretty well know based on mileage how often it is going to want a little sip of oil. In balance I'm pretty satisfied with the engine. As long as I can get motor cycle...

    Riding in western Virginia

I have seen that on a map we have. That is a bit of a stretch for us to get to that ride as Tazwell where it starts is about 90 miles East from where we are. But if you have time, just pick any road that looks like a rural byway and hang on. Stay safe and have fun.

    Riding in western Virginia

As RVers, we often pick our destinations by looking at a state map and look for areas where the roads DON'T run straight. We currently are a small town called Big Stone Gap, VA. At the risk of sounding like a regional tourist bureau, you can't believe this place. The weather has been good up...

    oil check , confused

I have to admit, that took some getting used to when I bought my Spidy. After 35 years of wet sump engines that we did the opposite, I pretty well did your exact story until I got used to a wet sump engine.

Opinion on Fox Podium 1.5 front shocks

Hmmmmm. Appears that BRP uses Fox. No news here. But are we all talking about the same thing????? I'm talking about the after market Fox Podium 1.5. I doubt that is what BRP is using as an OEM shock. Have any of you purchased this shock beside ABQSpyder, and if yes, what did you think of them.

I can only speak for my self. As mentioned before, the rear has been flawless. But the fronts have been a nightmare.

Opinion on Fox Podium 1.5 front shocks

These are about 3 years old. The first repair was done by their west coast service center. The 2nd and 3rd was done by SDHQ in Gilber , AZ. From what I could find out they have a reputation for knowing what they are doing. Thanks for the info from all of you. We will just see what the...

rear air-ride bag and compressor gone - is protector still avail?

OK, this is the second mention of replacing with Elka Stage 2. C A U T I ON !!! I currently have Stage 2 all around on my ST. The rear has been flawless and wouldn't trade it for anything, but Elka stage 2s have a very large failure rate. I have had to have my fronts repaired 3 times in 3...

Opinion on Fox Podium 1.5 front shocks

Am asking a question in what I think will be a future need. I didn't ask this question before I bought my Elkas and regret that. I think that in the not to distant future my Elkas will fail again and am I looking at replacing the fronts with the Fox shocks. This model has been suggested to me...

    2nd Elka leaker

And from others, that seems to be the norm. They either work fine any you love them, or they are leakers and you don't. It's really to bad because I have never heard anyone complain about their performance. Larry, would you keep us or at least me by PM how you like your Fox. I imagine the...
