• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Thanks, I will do that!

    87 gas

BRP recommends 91 octane+ in their Ski Doo four strokes if 87 non-eth. is not available. I have been running 87 with 10% for a few years now, except the last tank full, where I will put 91 eth-free in it along with some fuel treatment for summer storage. I made the change after I put up a poll...

First ride on Spyder: 200 mile impressions

Yep, I hear ya. I wasn't sure if I explained what I meant correctly. The Spyder allows me to actually focus more on situational awareness because I am not thinking about all the extra things that come with maintaining stability on two wheels ... lean angle, counter steering, brake inputs, etc...

First ride on Spyder: 200 mile impressions

I took my first extended ride on my new to me 2015 STS SM5. This is the first extended ride I’ve taken on three wheels; been on two wheels for ten years (age 44) and also own a Gold Wing. 1. I feel safer, more confident. On two wheels, there’s a thick layer of awareness and focus that that is...

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

Good advice, I read it over on the FAQ thread too. Glad I read about not leaving the windshield in its lowest setting - another thing listed in the service records is that the previous owner had to have the brackets replaced because the windscreen would not stay in its position. What is normal...

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

Just checked out the service records. Wow. This thing has been pampered. Two oil changes, coolant flushed and filled, spark plugs changed, clutch fluid flushed, air filter replaced, etc, etc. It only has 2,000 miles on it!!!

New and First Time Spyder Owner

For new owners like myself and the OP, is there a part of the forum or site that is dedicated to introducing the Spyder to new riders? An FAQ?

Seller owes Sheffield $$ - how to proceed?

I called Sheffield and my credit union. The best course of action was to have my credit union send the check directly to Sheffield. Once it is in the mail, the seller will sign the title over to me. At this point, the lien is still on the title. I cannot register it, he cannot sell it...

Seller owes Sheffield $$ - how to proceed?

No, in New York, the owner gets the title, whether it is financed or owned outright. I will call Sheffield in the AM and get some direction from them. Thanks.

Seller owes Sheffield $$ - how to proceed?

Hello - just bought a Spyder in a private sale today. The seller has it financed through Sheffield Financial. This is not like going to a local bank, meeting the seller, paying off the loan, getting a printed lien release, etc, etc. Sheffield is based in North Carolina and does not have...

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

David, thanks. I am looking forward to it. As mentioned, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I rode it. Free-revving and eats up the curves. I expected it to fight me in the curves. I read on this site that this motor likes to rev, which is cool, because if I am going to spend $$ on a...

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

Well, I ended up buying it. Paid $8800. The bike has two years of BEST left on it. I test rode it and had a blast. Much different style than my Gold Wing. I am looking forward to putting some miles on it!

    Just joined the Spyder family

Hi there, I just put a deposit down on a 2015 STS 5 speed. It has 2,000 miles on it and has two years of BEST left. Paid $8800. I have been keeping an eye on it, as it has been for sale for several weeks. I went to take a look at it, maybe kick a tire or two. I am not sure how interested I...

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

Thanks! What should I be looking for on a machine that is a 2015 with 2000 miles? Probably not much to look for with such a low mileage bike. On another note - how easy is it to do maintenance ... oil changes, etc?

    2015 STS-SM5 ... what do I need to know?

Hi there, joined the forum a few weeks ago as a viewer. I currently ride a 2016 full Gold Wing with ABS and navigation, and am looking for a second bike that is different. There is a '15 STS-SM5 for sale nearly with low miles, extended warranty, and priced decently. What do I need to know?
