• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    87 gas

Somewhere in antiquity, there was a discussion about this very topic. As was referenced, the engineer's determination of octane requirements, and balancing this with tailpipe emissions. I have run all grades of fuel in my '11 RTS and have yet to see any detrimental effects. Your results, of...

    Harbor Freight lift

No brand on earth qualifies for that. My HF lift keeled over sideways with my Goldwing upon it damn near pinning me between it and my workbench. That was my experience,YMMV and all that, all I have to say.

    Harbor Freight lift

I'm not sure about what you consider better ones. What I am sure about is in no way shape or form in this life would I ever trust a Harbor Freight product in any load bearing capacity.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Removed the RH tupperware to try and isolate my air suspension leak. Next stop is trunk removal to expose entire system. Pump is D.O.A. so a direct connection will be plumbed unless there is a hole in the airbag.

Cycle Gear Bilt Products - any good?

Have gone through several Bilt modular helmets and can find no fault. DOT approved and all that. The winter gear, for the money, has suited us very well in what passes for winter down here.As stated, Cycle Gear does have an excellent variety of gear, not just helmets. (YMMV) And, yes, the low...

    998cc 2012 RT limited

Yep, no shortage of Btus under that seat. great in winter, not so much in summer. I have the heat relief kit on my 2011, don't know if BRP still offers this for our obsolescent machines and when in doubt, stop for gas. David

    $200 for an oil change?

Based on your sig line, looks like you are stuck with the dealer price. I don't know what kind of Spyder you have, but on my 2011 RTS ,BRP came out with a panel modification that did away with most tupperware removal. Youtube can be your friend, but must have patience, especially with yourself...

    RT 2010 SE5 coolant Leak

OK now go burn gas, wear out tires and dirty oil,at whatever velocity suits you.

Oil change - how much & what oil?

Factory oil change kits with all new filters, washers, o rings and all that including the correct weight and quantity of oil are relatively inexpensive online. The previous poster used to sell oil and filters for our 998 machines, and does so now. Lest we forget Lamonster sells oil change kits...

    RT 2010 SE5 coolant Leak

So, cracked at a seam? That's where mine did,not too hard to fix, refilling and burping the system was the the most tedious part if I recall.

    Pyder gone Lame

Well it just so happens that the tools needed to tighten the aforementioned loose nut are part of the Benz tool locker. I'll look into this soon and see just what happens.

    Pyder gone Lame

Okay, how easy. Does it require BUDS?

    Pyder gone Lame

It started with slamming into gear and stalling. You could get it out of gear with the secret wrench trick (in the manual) but never knew when it would do it again. So, at this juncture is a 2011 RTS, purchased this day, new out of the crate, with every one of the now >62K miles put on by us. The...

    Locked in gear

About to commence clutch disassembly to determine whether clutch or transmission is the culprit. So, if I remove the discs themselves, and reuse, does anyone here know if it will require the compression tool. Not replacing clutch pack yet.Plan is to remove centrifugal clutch and pressure...
