• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bike rack for Spyder?

Keep in mind that the Spyder hitch is a poor excuse for a real hitch. It adds to unsprung weight and any load you put on it adds to what the shock has to control. Whatever is on a trailer or a hitch rack gets a very rough ride so plan accordingly . Just look around and see how many tow vehicles...

    Spyder vs Goldwing passenger seating

My brides comfort was one of the prime reasons to send the 2015 Spyder down the road. We are both far more comfy on the GL1800 wing. I did look at a 2020 RTL at the dealer the other day and it looks like they have made some improvements in a few areas but don't know that I would buy another. If...

How do Oregon riders handle this?

They will run your card and hand you the hose or sometimes they ask if you help and then walk away. Hwy 97 through Or. and Wa. Is a good road and is now posted at 65 so you can make good time.

    Golf clubs?

Just the price and not much else. They both mount to the swing arm and will transfer any and all motion to whatever you attach to it so don't put anything breakable in the bag and whatever you use to support the bag also has to attach to the hitch. I still maintain it's a poor design. Its easy...

    Hydration on long rides

Used a Camelbak for years for iron butt rides. Hydration is critical and a water bottle in the trunk does no good. If it's close and easy you'll use it. In hot weather I put ice in it and it helps keep you cool with it on your back.

Do you carry extra fuel for long tours?

Carried extra once but didn't need it. I used the fuel and gave the can away. I always get gas when I can rather than when I need it. Even if it's only been 50-100 miles.

    trailer hitch

I'm the guy in Or. that built the frame mounted hitch and it worked great. I took it off when I sold the RT cause I didn't want liability issues if somebody did something stupid. I ended up giving it away in pieces. The forward attachment was the bolt that secures the passenger foot board and...

Which section of road do you usually ride your Spyder ??

The roads around here are so rutted from chains, studs and heavy trucks in the winter It is a challenge at times just to keep it between the lines. When I had the Spyder I just let it wander within reason. With the wing it's a bit easier to keep a line and its usually left.

How many Spyders do you see in a typical work week (excluding weekends) ??

I see the same one every time I leave the house. It's my old one that a neighbor bought and it just sits in his carport. I'm pretty sure it hasn't moved since the last time I gave it some exercise for him.

    Wind turbulence

When I had the spyder my buddy on his FJR said the turbulence was bad but it was better when I towed the Bushtec. Now that I'm back on a wing he says a 2 second gap is comfy.

    Hit a hammer!

Returning from a trip in northern Cali. I tried to dodge a fresh road kill Skunk. Very hard to do on a Spyder pulling a trailer. I thought I cleaned it up well until I got home and it sat in the shop for a couple days in hot weather. I put it on the lift and found Skunk chunks in the rear fender...

    Garmin or Tom Tom ?

I've had a Garmin 660 for years and a Nuvi in the truck. The Nuvi is really old and doesn't have lifetime maps but I just scored a 660lm off the goldwing forum for 140.00. Came with everything so now I have all I need for all the rolling stock.:D

WELL, if this is what retirement is like......

I got kicked out of the work force due to on the job injury at 48. 20+ plus years later I'm still doing everything I can with some limitations. If I had just quit, I'm sure they would have thrown dirt in my face by now but I just get up each morning and get at it. S@#t happens so go fast and...

Wiring a Bushtec trailer to a Spyder RT???

When I wired my 15 RTL to my bushtec turbo 2 I bought a premade isolator from ebay. big bike parts I think and it was plug and play on the RT end and I wired it to the bushtec 6pin with no issues. One of the 6 wires on the trailer is the interior light and is ganged with the running lights. I...

    Steering... whaaat?

You will get lots of pontificating on this telling you what to do. Some of it may be the machine. Check all the parts for wear. They can be twitchy on the road. I never made friends with my 2015 so it is in a neighbor's garage and I'm back on two wheels. Now break out the popcorn.

    SOB Thieves!

I've lost a couple when attached to the hitch on the spyder and the wing so now I hang them farther forward. I think crap coming off the rear tire is the culprit. Even a thief is probably to lazy to steal one.
