• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Canadian and US Credit Cards

We recently returned from a trip to Canada and found our AMEX and VISA cards worked fine. Our cards were re-issued with chips in them earlier this year and I prefer the more up-to-date method of payment. So far we have found just two places (Lowes and Pet Smart) that will accept the chipped card...

    Dynamics of a Spyder crash

What a depressing thread. Each of the things mentioned could also happen when driving a sports car, ATV, bicycle, scooter. etc. If you are always focussed on what might happen, your mind will never be paying attention. When driving any vehicle you must stay in the present. That doesn't mean you...

    red lights?

Contact your state rep and ask him to draft legislation that copies the Georgia statute that was passed just this year to allow drivers of motorcycles to proceed with caution if the vehicle doesn't trigger the light.

    Installing a CD player

Why use obsolete technology? Just buy a used IPod on Ebay or Amazon and load all the CD's on it. The added benefit is that you can then use the technology on your RT sound system to control your music playlists. Can Am has included the stuff you need to just plug and play. I have over 9,000...

Do not ride on gravel roads?

I believe the Harley rear sprocket run between 125 to 140 teeth whereas the Spyder has half that number. That makes it easier for a piece of gravel to lodge itself into the teeth as the spaces are wider.

    front tyres

Leave them alone Based on our experience with the directional tires my advice would be to leave them alone. The tires are softer than automobile tires and tend to 'wear into' a pattern that works fine for the side they are on but doesn't work as well when switched out to the other side. I...

    Disappointed owner

I ran into a couple at a restaurant this morning who were looking over my Spyder in the parking lot. The man and his wife introduced themselves as 2014 Spyder RT owners but in the past 18 months they have only driven the Spyder 1,200 miles. They go on short Sunday drives every month or so and...

    Question about RPM's

Assuming you are talking about the twin, 998 engine, Let it scream. It is enjoying itself and what it was designed for. We rarely get into fifth gear and shift up to it when we get around 68-70 mph. Around town we routinely run at 5500 to 6000 RPM. The engine doesn't know what gear it is in...

What did Can-Am do to the 2013s?

They re-designed the chassis to accept the 1330 engine for 2013. Unfortunately the engine was not ready for market and they used the 998 instead. The tupperware and chassis was not designed for that engine and the airflow caused overheating problems.

Trike or quad... apparently Hannigan has either one

Sorry you had problems. Jack 'coach' Rice died of cancer two year's ago. His younger brother now runs the operation and he is to Jack as oil is to water. Jack inherited all the manners and taste in the family... the brother.... not so much.

I am beginning to notice a trend in the posts...

Before and if your post is deleted, let me be one to say you are totally off base about SpyderLovers. Certainly Lamont (the board owner) is in this to make a profit but I do not believe he puts that above all else. He has demonstrated over the past eight years that the boards he runs (more than...

Trike or quad... apparently Hannigan has either one

Driving this morning by the Trikes by Rice shop, here in Loganville and spotted this rig outside. It is a quad cycle by Hannigan. On a 2008 Honda Gold Wing they added both front and rear kits from Hannigan. The two kits run about $17,000 and the price they have on this unit is $31,000. I asked...

I am beginning to notice a trend in the posts...

You've been here less than a year. I think it was much more viscious back in the earlier days. some posters from those days are no longer here.... Lamont does a good job of weeding them out.

    More stupidity

I was reading in the paper this morning (yes, I still get one delivered), about the folks who want to boycott Stone Mountain Park here in Atlanta because it displays the confederate flag and has three famous Confederates carved on the face of the mountain. I suppose it won't be long before...

    Question about RPM's

998 RPM tracking Last week my wife took her 2012 RT in for routine servicing and had them run an updated BUDS report on her machine. The optimum RPM range for the 998 is over 4,000 but of course that can't be done at all times. From what I have been able to understand if the 998 spends 35-40%...

Proud to be part of these united states called Amercia

Glad to be home again Like you I was born in Canada (although many years before you were). We moved to the USA in the mid-70's and applied for citizenship but were put on a waiting list. In 1982, our names came to the top and my wife and I went through the rigors of studying for the...

Can't decide between a Spyder RT or a Harley/Honda Trike. HELP

I seriously doubt that you will receive the kind of unbiased information you seek by posting the question on this site. Maybe you posted it on a Harley site as well and intend to balance out the comments?

Hello, Thanks, and first dealings with BRP

If it was me, I would not be satisfied with that answer and I would send a follow up asking why they did not address the question that was asked..... or, "please let me know the specific differences between the two models using the same engine that would impact this procedure". But then I like...
