• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Melted Oil Dipstick Threads

Don't worry about plastic pieces, there's a screen in the tank that will prevent any debris from getting to the engine. That screen is supposed to be removed and cleaned periodically anyway.

Question about checking the oil level

No that's an old joke...they were only supposed to make 2500 premier editions. I think they wound up making around 3700. ;) (and PE's are worth way more!)

    One cylinder Spyder

I had that same code #P0351 for the coil a few years ago. Once the dealer did further checking it turned out to be the ECM was bad and not the coil.

    Stripped Oil Drain Plug Question

Have another look at those plugs. The factory ones are definitely allen head. Seems odd that the previous owner changed them to torx. I believe most aftermarket plugs are hex head.

3-wheel motorcycle endorsement driving me nuts!

Are you sure you need a 3 wheel endorsement? Must jurisdictions automatically allow you to ride a trike if you already have your 2 wheel motorcycle license.

checking oil what I'm I doing wrong

Yes theoretically some oil from the tank can drain back into the engine giving erratic readings. This is why it should be checked when fully warmed up....just after shutting the engine off and before any oil can drain back into the crankcase.

Dipstick is the same for all years and models, #519000155. The SE model takes more oil for the control module and extra filter.

    Oil level, what the heck!

The guy you talked to was 100% correct. A dry sump system could have a one gallon or a ten gallon reservoir, it doesn't matter. A wet sump system however, such as in your car could have big problems if it were overfilled. (crankshaft spinning in oil for instance) You just proved it, even with...

    Oil level, what the heck!

You were supposed to start off with 3 quarts, then add as needed until reaching the full mark....and make sure the engine and oil are at operating temp for your final check.
