• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Used Spyders

$5K is a fantastic deal - go buy it now, if it runs well and makes no weird noises. Then do homework. Watch all the videos you can, especially taking off the panels, where the battery is to check it, all the how-to's etc. Couple things to do: 1) Order an oil change kit from LaMonster.com...

    Nice Video from BRP

The only thing that is still scary is the Ryker likes to turn into a two wheel bike at random, with the front tire falling off. Has happened to two people in a month in my area alone, once right behind me - saw this tire fly by in town. Was the Ryker behind me! Won't let my daughter get one...

    1330cc Fans won't shut off 2014 Spyder RT 6

Get code(s) first. Hold both MODE + SELECT down then press the turn switch straight in. Codes only show if the bike is running with the engine light on (or other indicators). It would take a LOT to gum up the radiator fins to the level that would cause high heat. I had years of oil and gunk...

    I think I "broke" it

I'm trying to understand how the Sena cable shorted - where were the ends? One in a USB outlet (somewhere) and the other end hit ground? I was trying to figure out how you got a squealing on the Sena :) I'd try pulling off the battery cables & clean. This also will assert everything gets...

2010 RT SE5 runs rough and then engine stalls when hot

I looked at a friends 2013 ST that bucked and snorted sometimes. Bike had only 900 miles on it, been sitting for 2-3 years in a garage. One time I couldn't even take off, the bike just shuddered bad. I pulled a plug wire off the coil and no change in rough idle - figured maybe the coil, but...

    Rear Tire Removal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWtbQPdKd8w Finless Bob has a bunch of great videos. I also have a brand new Khumo rear tire to replace this winter. Factory only made it to 13K miles. I have this video saved to reference. The biggest thing is the sensor as mentioned, remove it or it will break!

Bike wont start, showing VSS/Brake failure fault

That connector is probably for a battery tender. I have one on my RSS. First off take off the battery connections (to hard reset everything for sure) and clean up the cable connections with emery paper or a wire brush. Do same for battery terminals. When they are shiny cleaned put back together...

    Another wheel fell off...

That's what I am thinking. Machined from a solid would give far higher hardness and even strength throughout the material. Extrusions can produce weak spots. Even so these nuts must be under some huge pressure to crack a weak spot!? The pressure on the hub cannot be that awful much given the...

    Another wheel fell off...

Met up with several Spyders and a Rhyker for a lunch. Rhyker is only a MONTH OLD, very few miles. Gassed up afterwards, and pulling out of the station the front right wheel just flew off and went flying down the road!! Lucky it wasn't at 75MPH on the interstate (earlier in the day). He said he...

Add power outlet to 2016 RT Limited

Yes - but there are better ways. That outlet is fused at 5 amps, which probably OK for charging cell phone, etc. But I would suggest what a lot of us do: Those two round 55mm gauges for temp & gas - they pop out very easy with the 4 screws in that panel. Turn handlebars fully to easily take it...

Red Parking Brake Indicator won't shut off.

Did you pull a code? That may help. Couple different brake issues that report.

Small air cleaner instead of the giant air box?

2013 At 998cc. I read that someone made a small replacement for the giant air box. Is this true? Any links? Thanks!! Replacing plugs and OMG the pain!!

Wow where did you find that information! I was Googling for some time :)

    P0900 Code: Clutch Actuator Wiring

2008GS SE5 (2 of them in our club) are showing this code once in a while. The check engine light comes on and "Check transmission" scrolls. Usually goes away after warmed up. Problem is, I can't find anything in the schematic remotely looking like a clutch actuator. Usually goes away after...

    Passenger and performance

I pull a loaded trailer and have my wife on the back (more than 115lbs, but I value my life so won't say). With the 1330ACE it has SO much torque you won't notice. However - in the twisties I do notice more dipping in the front going into curves riding 2-up. Planning on a sway bar upgrade...

    Muffler question.

I installed HMF Muffler I got on EBay, was a return with a small scratch for half price. Love the sound! Nice deep, not glaring loud like a straight pipe. If you pop off your left side cover like you are checking the oil, you can take a flashlight and easily trace the exhaust down to the...

ST-S SE5 stuttered and died when coming to a stop

Does this sound right: It will run, but a quick twist on the throttle it will just chug up RPMs slowly; when moving (fwd or back) it stutters like mad. If that sounds right, I will bet you one beer that you have a fouled plug (that cleaned up a bit, but will foul again). A friend on our Spyder...

    My Altimax experience.

You change it yourself? Like the old fashion way with big spoons or whatever? I am tempted to try it but I don't know what to buy over at Harbor Freight :)

CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK when decelerating - Now what!?

Turns out it was the front pulley. Inspected it 6 months prior it was fine. After taking out bolt it wobbled on the shaft badly. New one installed, runs great now.
