• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Burnout Spyder RS

SM5? With manual tranny popping the clutch will do it, especially if you "jump" taking weight off as you pop it. The nanny will let you burn out to about 40MPH on the rear wheel sensor (I think - may be 30MPH) as long as both front wheels are moving the same speed. There is some math there. On...

    Planning a trip...input help/comments welcome

CoPilot? I am planning trip to Maggie Valley and got the Copilot app for my iPhone. It lets you see what is around pretty easy and plan stops for gas and food. Just getting used to it. It has a motorcycle mode that plans nice back roads for a trip too. Might want to check it out I think there...

    New Member....Hello!

Loved my ST I also had an ST - I really liked the seating position halfway between crotch rocket RS and upright touring RT model. Don't let the 998cc engine fool you, it is a rocket, and many pics of 50K to 100K miles posted here on that. That handbrake cost the previous owner $1500! Yes the...

    MOUNTING AREAS FOR GO-PRO

Mounting Arm There is an arm that mounts to the two screws on your dash, behind the windshield (from a sponsor here, I forgot which one). Comes with RAM mounts. Works great no vibrations, I get little to no reflections issues unless the sun is just right. Also handy to mount your GPS up there...

    hurting butt

Just installed an Ultimate Tall Boy on my RS My problem is I am 6'5" and 270lbs and have no butt. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there with the same problem! The OEM seat just caused two points of pain after two hours. The Ultimate seat is very different. At first I wondered if it...

New to forum and Can Am

Welcome! My wife who has never driven a motorcycle in her life learned on my Can Am RT in about an hour (the basics). A few months later after breezing through the 3-wheel class and getting her license she now has her own! That's what I love about Spyders - so many new people can learn so...

    shifting

Yes about 5K to 6K, throttle steady. I read here somewhere you never want to be below 4K RPM? Something about the clutch is fully engaged around 3800 or so? It does take some getting used to between the 1330 and the 998! We have both and it freaks the wife out on the 998 revving so high.

How many bars for heat do you see on your GS/RS V-Twins?

Hi all, I get 5 bars on the heat gauge of my 2008 GS. While riding with an RT that has a VTwin, they were at 3 bars, flickering on 4. I haven't yet pulled off the two panels underneath to let engine heat out, worried a little about rocks getting kicked up. IDK if the RT's have a different...

    Rs mufler

HMF If it is a 998cc - The HMF sounds great. Not just pure noise like a straight through. I got mine off EBay for $150 (scratched return). I put a juicebox on it, not really sure if that is helping. With a semi-auto SE5 it does backfire a bit. Hoping I just need out radiator. You can just...

    Missing second gear!!

Only second? This happened to me a lot, but with 3rd also. It would sometimes just stay in 2nd or 3rd and refuse to shift up or down. In my case it was the Gear Box Position sensor (searching that here on the forums will bring up a TON of info, I also have a big thread about it). You can...

    Drive belt squeal?

Does sound change... at different speeds? I read on some forum they had a slight noise until the front sprocket fell off. Might look for the red dust to cover that base? Not a mechanic, just tossing ideas out there! Maybe buy a cricket gauge to keep handy to check belt every couple months...

    RT to F3 Limited

:agree: I'm 6'5" and have an 2016 RT-S (wifes) & '08 GS (mine). I wasn't sure about the F3 until I sat on one. I had to get on using the passenger pegs. But wow the comfort was a whole new level. Felt like I was in my recliner :) With my legs out in front the cornering would feel a lot more...

2012 RTL (SE5) will not shift

Shock Method When I changed mine, I used the shock method. Remove the lower shock nut off the bolt (13mm). Jack up the bike about midway on the center frame, slowly. The rear A frame will drop and you will find a point where the shock bolt slides right out. Keep jacking up and the belt will...

Spyder Newb. 2009 GS SE5 for wife. 21k miles. Clean, two owner machine. Oh boy!!

Search the forums for problems seen! My wifes byke is a 2008GS (same as yours). Search BRP notices & recalls! 1. Front sprocket. Keep an eye on it for red dust. "common" problem is the teeth wear out or the bolt gets loose. A friends' 2009 just stopped on the road, the bolt snapped...

2012 RTL (SE5) will not shift

Sounds like GBPS If you are changing gear manually (if I read it right) then the gearbox position sensor might be broken. Can you use the wrench method and rock the bike to try to get to neutral? Pay no attention to the gear that shows on the dash - if the GBPS is toast won't give right gear...
