• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    The Bagdad Cafe

The desert is amazing in the early morning as the sun comes up and in the evening when it sets. But it pretty much sucks the rest of the time, especially in the summer. You can shoot a cannon out here and never hit anything. Still, its home. My town is like Mayberry, very little stress. Biggest...

    The Bagdad Cafe

About 30 mi east of Barstow in the town of Newberry Spgs is a little cafe called the Bagdad Cafe. It got that name from the movie of the same name starring Jack Palance. Prior to the movie it was known as The Sidewinder Cafe. The Bagdad sits on Rte 66 and is an iconic feature of the Mother Road...

    SMH10 Issue

I had an issue a year or so ago after upgrading the firmware to the units. It seems the VOX feature was checked which can only be discovered when the unit is plugged into the computer and the SENA program open. The sound the speaker was making was like intermittent psst's. If you have done a...

    Blue Cut Fire

Most of us have seen on the tv or read on the net or newspaper about the Blue Cut fire in Southern Calif. It shut down the I-15 freeway and railroads in the Cajon Pass for two days. This is a vital link in and out of Sou California. The fire is still burning after scorching nearly 36,000 acres...

    Are you on the map?

    Civil Unrest

While Lamont and Joan are dodging buffalo on their way up to Deadwood, 2 and 3 wheeled riders may be dodging protestors on our highways. Its a sad state for our precious freedom and democracy must resort to anarchy, organized or not, and hold us hostage on the asphalt. But then its not a new...

    Recurring limp home mode

About 1 second per on/off is sufficient. Key needs to be about arms length away to lose comm with the antenna. Wait for your headlamps to cycle off, or longer. Get off the bike and do the Irish jig if you wish. I did it once and it worked but I suspect it wasn't because of the jig although I am...

    Recurring limp home mode

Whenever I had problems on the road with codes I would turn the key off and on three times to clear the codes, pull the key arms length, and try again. If anything was really wrong the codes would come back...which they didn't. These things have been known to have brain farts. Maybe some would...

I hope you took lots of pictures and have them available on a blog, FB, or something. I have turn-by-turn maps of each state by Jim Ross and Jerry McClanahan plus I recently downloaded to my kindle app on the ipad "Motorcycle Party Guide to Route 66". How much is a round trip theoretically?

Its on my Spucket List to do the Mother Road. I, no doubt, will cheat in areas like you mentioned. Unless you have a tour guide that knows the course intimately, you pretty much have to. But I don't mind stopping and going if it means discovering more about the history of this great land we live in.

    Rte 66

I'm not sure how long it takes to travel the literal Hwy 66 east of Adrian, TX. It winds through several little towns slowing the speed way down. Out west its basically a straight shot.

    Rte 66

The majority of rte 66 is through a reservation I hear. But seriously, this would make a hell of a run. The Mother Road Criss Cross Run. The slowest part out west presumably would be the city streets from San Bernardino to SM Pier. Lots of stop n go. Speaking of San Bernardino, most of you are...

    Rte 66

Suppose a group of Spyders (etc) take off from Chicago on the Mother Road, AND, at the exact same time, a group of Spyders (etc) take off from Santa Monica Pier. Adrian, TX is the midpoint of 66 but if both groups obeyed posted speed limits (yeah right, as if thats going to happen), where will...
