• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Last day till the big recall unveil for 2013 RT's

Yep, everything I am seeing and hearing through the service channels says "May 2015" with no specific date, and that it ONLY applies to 2013 RT models, no other years, no other models, and that it is a "Safety Recall". BRP is careful to not let the cat out of the bag before the parts are...

    F3 – Likes, Dislikes, Loves & Hates

Excellent post on the likes and dislikes, well thought out and detailed. Every time I ride an F3, I have the feeling that it totally obsoletes the previous models. It is simply superior in function. From the 3-cylinder engine to the lower rider cg to the higher roll center, it corners so much...

    FIRST RIDE OF 2015

Went for my first Spyder ride of the year this morning, 32 degrees at launch time in the middle of Minnesota. We're still chasing snow for snowmobiling, but today I just had to go out for a ride on wheels. What fun!

Front tires for the 2014 RT

Bob is correct here. I am running the Kumho Solus KH 16s in the 155/60-15 size on my 2013 ST-S. It is within 1% in diameter and only 10mm narrower, which amounts to about 3/8". The difference from the cheap junk stock kendas was amazing and immediate, in all conditions. So far it isn't cupping...

    Got the "I want"'s

It was likely a case of responding to owner's complaints about the boot time on the LCD color screen on the RTs and STs, and an effort to lower production costs. The monochrome 3-dial gauge like what the GS/RS models had was quick to come up, and with the F3 being a bit more of the "raw" look it...

    Got the "I want"'s

I believe the "no waiting" feature for start-up is due to the modified 2008-style gauge package. The wait time on RT/ST models now is more of a boot issue for the LCD screen gauge, IMO. With the "older" style gauge on the F3 it lights up immediately and fires right up after a single key stroke...

    Kuhmo Tires on F3 ???

The fleet of F3s that we were riding at the end of September up around Valcourt all had Kenda tires front and rear. Zero doubt. And considering how often we were squaking the rear tires, we all chuckled at them needing replacement quite soon after we were done with them. Tough crowd. The...

Can-Am "Pre-Season Sales Event" is Impossible to Take Advantage Of...

This is what I show, and I quote..... "Anyone confirming a purchase in North America of a new Can-Am Spyder with their local dealer before January 31, 2015 will receive the standard 24-month BRP Limited warranty plus a 24-month B.E.S.T. extended service contract." So if you have a "confirmed"...

    A note on tire compounds.

I told you all about this a couple of months back, here is the info and the part numbers. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?71987-Changes-to-OEM-Rear-Tire-Construction&p=865976#post865976

    vee rubber

So when I was up at the Spyder factory in Valcourt a couple of weeks ago testing the F3, we were at the BRP Design Studio and they had the original prototypes down on the showroom. They actually had the EXACT unit I would have ridden back in 2001 there, the one that had all of the Ski-Doo REV...

    F3 acceleration (0-60)

I have to agree with Lamont here:bowdown:. The F3 handles very well bone stock, and sitting down and back makes all the difference in the dynamic of how the bike reacts and interacts with you and the road. The key factor is putting the rider's center of gravity closer to the machine's roll...

    Another disappointing model year

On the F3, how do you know you won't like it until you try it? I was very anti-cruiser in my mind, I KNEW I wouldn't like it. I didn't even want to like it. That's like going back to a 1995 MX Z in the snowmobile world, ick. I KNEW it would make it corner poorly sitting down and back like...

    2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 – First Ride Test Report

All of it, the foot pegs are adjustable along the spar tubes, with five different lengths of linkages for the brakes and shifter, so the positions can be set to one of five positions to better fit 90% of the rider heights in the general population. Moving the pegs on the tubes is the easy part...

    2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 – First Ride Test Report

You would be right at the A-1 specification. The UFit is supposed to be designed to ideally fit the 5th percentile female size (5' 0") up to the 95th percentile male size (6' 3"). So 5 foot tall would be handlebars A and feet 1, should fit you well. Will be curious to hear how you like it...

    2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 – First Ride Test Report

I just got back from riding the F3 up in Quebec for a couple of half-days. Here is what I learned. I have previously shared bits and pieces of this content in previous posts, but have wrapped it all into one cohesive presentation. Or, at least I tried! For those who do not know me, I am a...

    F3 acceleration (0-60)

Correct, the BRP reps were telling us the 0-60 time was 4.8 seconds. That is what I have in my notes as well as memory. Let's just say that with the 1330 in a lighter chassis than the RT and the lower gearing (rear sprocket is 4 T larger) that it pulls off the line quite briskly and traction is...

    OUT WITH THE V-TWIN

I was wondering how long it was going to take you to pop on a 1330. I saw that one sitting there at the dealership with your name on it, and it gave me a great big smile! That is what happens when you ride a 1330, the power and torque is so broad and smooth, you really get addicted to it...

    F3 Ride review on Motorcycle.com

The author Tom Roderick from Motorcycle.com did a great job with his presentation in my opinion. We were both there, and I believe he gave the F3 a fair analysis. He is a motorcycle enthusiast, and his report is from that perspective and experience. I believe his comments and observations to be...

Red Headed Step Child versus F3

I think the take-away here is that BRP was a company that knew snowmobiles, ATVs and watercraft. They started out building Spyder models based on what they knew and what they were good at. That said, their first three models really only targeted 1/3 of the total motorcycle market. And of those...
