• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Do not ride on gravel roads?

There is a toll road in south Texas that is posted at 85, maybe you would like this one better? :yikes:

Do not ride on gravel roads?

I only stopped for gas twice in 462 miles, started full, ended empty!

Discount Tire DOES NOT want your business

"BRP will always recommend installing OEM tires on all Can-Am Spyder Roadsters as this has an impact on the dynamic behavior of the unit (notably, the Vehicle Stability System). " Here's the deal. When Bosch does the VSS calibrations on their test tracks in Germany they have to do so using a...

Do not ride on gravel roads?

Right on Bob, I'm with you! That happened on my ride to Sioux Falls and back last Tuesday. Found one of those "being repaired" roads so I whipped around and took a detour. Yep, more time and miles, but I still made it home for dinner that night. Jacked up the mileage from about 416 miles to 462...

Do not ride on gravel roads?

Agreed. They call it "seal coating" up here. They first spray a hot oil/tar layer then cover it in pea-rock, let it get packed in and then come back later and sweep up the un-stuck pea rock. Typically it is most effective if done one year after the pavement is laid down. Something about helping...

    F3 Vibration

I have to agree with Peter here. The F3 is a near-perfect machine, with the two issues being the belt vibes and the turbulence with the windshield installed. Other than that, it is a freakin' phenomenal piece of work. Considering how bad so many other machines vibrate, we are getting fussy...

Discount Tire DOES NOT want your business

I suppose it might be slightly better, but I think the difference would be negligible. The 10mm narrower is so minimal it is just not enough to really notice it. The tread design is going to have far more to do with this than the size difference, IMO. Going to the 215/60-15 sizing is simply to...

    F3 Vibration

Drive Belt Harmonic Vibrations The Spyder drive belt is a tensioned string system that transmits the drive pinion torque to the rear sprocket via the tension of the upper part of the belt. The natural response of a string system is to vibrate when stretched and released at different speeds...

Do not ride on gravel roads?

Out of nearly 100,000 Spyder miles since 2007 I would guess that 1,000 of them have been on gravel roads in Minnesota. I generally slow down some, but not to a crawl. Often times it is 50 mph for miles on end. To be fair, I did have to replace one belt, but that was damaged due to hot tar...

Discount Tire DOES NOT want your business

I continue to be amazed at how many still want to use the Kumho Ecsta tire on the rear. OK, I admit, it lasts a bit longer than the stock POS but there are so many tires that are way better options. The Kumho is really not a very good match, truth be known. IMO, of course, but I have burned...

Using 6th gear over drive correctly and vibration

Drive Belt Harmonic Vibrations OK, here is some heavy info on the drive belt harmonic vibrations and the video of a 2012 RT at 75-80 mph in 5th gear. The Spyder drive belt is a tensioned string system that transmits the drive pinion torque to the rear sprocket via the tension of the upper...

Using 6th gear over drive correctly and vibration

Has anyone posted the video of the belt resonating yet? If not I will find it and see if I can get it posted.

How to slide rear end over in garage?

Personally I just lift up on the grab handle at the rear (RS/ST/F3 but not RT) to reduce the pressure and simply slide the rear end over, but I am a big guy so it is fairly easy to do. Anything that reduces the friction and pressure between the rubber tire and the floor surface will make the...

Which Spyder Is Right For Me?

Bob and Craig have done well to get you headed in the right direction. With the four different models there are four different seating positions, which I consider to be the most significant differences between the models. It is all about the relationship between your hips, knees and feet, as...

    What is it worth?

I was just going to sell it as a 2008 with 34,000 miles in very good condition, but didn't want to be stupid about it and leave money on the table if some of you thought it would be worth more. I really didn't think it would be. It was not / is not my intention to sell it here on the forum, as...

It is the SM, they were built first. Here is a photo of the very first ones coming down the production line. The one in front is #004, with #005 right behind it, my #006 is behind the people standing there on the right.

    What is it worth?

Being a Premier Edition by itself is not the attraction. Being a single digit of the very first run is, being the first one sold outside of the factory is. There are thousands of Premier Editions from many models, but there are only 9 (or so) single digit units from the very first run. That is...

    What is it worth?

I seek your opinions on if my 2008 Spyder GS has any extra value over and above what a normal 2008 GS would be worth..... I have serial number 6 of the very first original run of 2008 Spyder GS models. Jay Leno got #001, I got #006. Have had it here since 2007. To the best of my knowledge...

Finally! Picked up my F3-S today!

Happy day indeed, I finally was able to pick up my F3-S today. Was just built and shipped, set-up and waiting. Ran it through a couple of heat cycles and then got a quick 120 miles on it. It is amazing in so many ways - from the 3-cylinder 1330 ACE to the dead-nuts tracking to the locked-in...
