• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake failure while coming to a stop sign

Brake Failure I wrote earlier about obtaining a parking brake failure indication on the dash of my '12 Spyder. The manual states that the likely culprit was either a blown fuse, #3 or the parking brake sensor itself. Took it in to have it diagnosed and was told that the following needed to be...

    Flag and National Anthem protests

The Flag and The Anthem You're free pretty much to do what you want at home, that's not a public venue. Protest and demonstrate all you want. At least I've not paid to watch a homeowner demonstrate or protest.

    PTT CB Issue

CB Radios If you're riding with two or three other Spyder's or motorcycles, a cb radio is often a better way to communicate as opposed to a Scala or Sena unit. No need to pair with other riders.

    Night Riding

Night Time Driving or Riding As far as night time riding or driving is concerned, for those of you who may have done so, I believe the best time to ride through Kansas on I-70, is at night. Of course that might be said for, and about any long stretch of featureless highway, through any state...

    Flag and National Anthem protests

Flag and Anthem Protests As one who has served in one of the armed forces for 20 years, I care extremely little for the disrespectful stand, or the opinions that some overpaid athlete or entertainer might take. They don't represent ME. If they want to publicly protest, let them do so, off the...

    Goodbye to the RT-S lineup

RT-S I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-S in Magnesium Silver. I believe the RT-SE5 is the same thing. I've added a few things to personalize it, and add to the comfort level: Corbin dual color heated seat with rider backrest Vanity mirror for passenger LED light for illumination in trunk Kaddy...

    Parking brake issues

Parking Brake Issue/Fault I have a Can Am Spyder RT-SE5 with a parking brake issue. The parking brake fault display came on. Obviously the parking brake cannot be engaged. The manual did say in troubleshooting the issue, the causes were likely fuse #3, or the parking brake sensor. I checked...

    Parking brake stuck on

Parking Brake Issue I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5 with just over 23,000 miles. The other day, I had pulled into a gas station, set the parking brake, filled the tank, then released the parking brake. Or so I thought. The bike would neither move in the forward or reverse direction, rather...

    What a day

Spyder Likes Has anyone ever heard that the Spyder is nothing more than a snowmobile with wheels, made and designed for warm weather riding? Manufactured by Bombardier, a company that also manufactures snowmobiles, its not a huge leap. Like Chasinsparks, I get a lot of favorable comments as...

    hunting season

Hunting Waterfowl One of the things I found in Virginia Beach on display and heard of in a book called Chesapeake, was a long gun, for hunting resting water fowl. The gun would be mounted on supports over the length of row boat, and geese landed on the lake, they would be shot. I never said it...

    How Full is Full?

Gas One of the stations in this area offering the lowest price of gas, aside from Costco, is Maverik. $3.09 for premium. My wife is still visiting family in Hemet, California and they rather laugh at our complaining. Regular gas at $3.09 is rather inexpensive there. And I hear that Governor...

My Spyder let me down today

Electronics Years ago, my uncle made a comment about new cars being solely dependent on a strange, little black box now found under their hoods. No more distributor caps, points, or anything connected with them. Unfortunately, if the black box failed out in the middle of nowhere, you were...

    991 or 998?

Engine Displacement Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-S, with an engine displacement of 998cc, with 100hp. The displacement increased to 1330cc in 2014, with an additional 15hp. The engine went from a two, to three cylinder, which I...
