• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Vredestein Quatrac 5

Ideally you need the standard size of tyre, unfortunately there is very few manufacturers make our size of tyre and of them the tyres they make are often not so desirable. So, if you want to keep your bike's VSS and ABS within it's design parameters you will be best selecting a tyre with as near...

    Vibration in the handlebars normal?

I agree. The 1330 engine is buzzy by nature at lowish revs. Much more so than the V-twin.

    Things that have not improved

Aha, you obviously didn't know the fix, you shoulda carried a big wrench with you to give that SU pump a whack to get it going again!

Just a wee heads-up for you folks using this tyre. I use the same tyre on my Jeep and I like them but they aquaplane fairly easily over standing water at speed. They're fine on plain wet roads. Just thought I'd mention it especially since it's a wider than standard size you're using. Take care...

    Hardlurch to left when braking.

As well as cleaning and lubing the pad slide area, while the pads are out pump the brake and drive the pistons out a distance - don't go too far! - and watch for one of them being a little reluctant. Squeeze them in and exercise them a couple more times to be sure they are as free to move as...

    Front Sprocket Spline Failures

Yes, well I know what fretting is but many of the pictures of the issue have the rust on the outside of the sprocket. So if the bolt is tight and it's sealed and fretting, how does the fretted material get out of the spline to the outside of the sprocket? IMHO there's water involved. That...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

I agree. From your description of you and your requirements I don't think a Spyder is the machine for you. I still ride two wheels too, a bike I have which you might like to consider is a Triumph Rocket Touring - 2.3 litres of grunt, physically big bike with plenty of leg room and good handlebar...

    Front Sprocket Spline Failures

I'm reading this thread and looking at the links, I'm mystified by the responses, the red dust is rust, the splines aren't wearing out, they're rusting out! For rust to form, water must be penetrating the splines therefore there must be space at the bolt/washer and/or space at the rear pulley...

1330cc 2016 spyder rt front brake vibration

I too have been working on our two RTs with the same symptoms as you describe but the cause is not what you have concluded. In your case you may be perfectly correct but in my case, no so. Do you have a dial test indicator? If so, I suggest you check your disc runout, if they're not dead true...

    Throw away new factory tires?

Well I can tell you about a serious safety issue and it relates to the OP's question directly because I did change out my tyres at 350(ish) miles, the distance from my dealer to my home. I already knew about the issue because this is my second RT machine and my partner also is on RT number 2...

Tire update. Just for info, not starting a discussion or argument.

OK, I run non-standard tyres and I'm at about 7k miles with them, is that ok for you? ;) Firstly my issues with the standard tyres, poor wear at the rear one and seriously poor (read can be dangerous) tracking of the front ones over longitudinal tar overlaps, road marking lines, tar snakes etc...

Comfort Seat fitment. 2014 vs 2011.

It will fit but the under seat molding is a different shape and it contacts the frame slightly differently. It will need to be sprung very slightly as you close it. It's not a problem, just be aware of it.

    First Ride, hopefully

spyderlass first ride ?Took delivery of my Spyder RT last September, and had a couple of weeks to learn all her little ways, then it was off to Europe with my partner on his Golding. Big learning curve, but brilliant fun. Spyder took it all in her stride, from motorways to steep twisty mountain...
