• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Don't lose that side cover.

Yes, I agree with you. That little hook has to be clipped on first then push the pins into the rubbers. Miss out clipping the hook and the panel will go awol. Don't ask me how I know!

1330cc 2016 spyder rt front brake vibration

I've got the whole testing, lathe work and rebuild sequence on video showing each step of the issue, perhaps I should send it to them. I'd post it here if that were possible. On the two Spyders I repaired there was no disc warping but the uneven wear pattern did look similar to warping and it...

It sounds as though the internal battery is discharged/faulty.

    TOWING WITH A CAR DOLLY

Perhaps you could tow it backwards, tie off the bars if necessary. This is done commonly with small cars. Oops, I went away for a cuppa tea before posting, I see I've been gazumped. Hehe...:banghead:

    Continuing DESS Issue?

The previous dess system is not the same as the 2014 on system. Currently the key code is held in the ECU and the dess unit is an intermediary, previously the key code was held in the dess unit. I've no idea why BRP changed it but, in my opinion it was less secure in the previous system. I...

    DPS motor

I've had the DPS code. Under the front of the bike is a connector to the steering. The cables are short and it's all a bit tight and it's subject to road debris. Separating the connector and generally cleaning it and re-aligning it did the trick for me. Deffo worth a try.

Picked up a 2017 RT Limited with 3100 miles this week!

I agree with you, I can stop my Wing and trigger the ABS at 60mph but my Spyder takes a lot of standing on the brake to make it stop quickly. You'll adjust to it. It's no consolation but the earlier 998 Spyders were much worse! The wheel diameter limits the size of brake disc which can be...

EBC Rotors and Fully Sintered Pads on 2015 F3.

Don't they? So you don't have a break-in procedure in your Owners' Handbook, it applies to the whole vehicle not just the engine. Yer reckon! If you were to look at both the brake discs and the pad surface you'd see that they're both machined surfaces and not flat. Magnified they'd look like...

    Diagnosing Limp Mode

When and while it's running badly, switch off and take out the spark plugs to identify the offending cylinder. If fuel is being injected but there's no spark the plug will be wet. If there's no fuel but there is a spark, the offending plug will show a slight dampness and it will be darker than...

EBC Rotors and Fully Sintered Pads on 2015 F3.

It's not. That's been the correct way to bed brake pads for umpteen years, folks are just impatient or simply don't know or think they know better. Choose which one is you! :yikes:

    Something new and questions

BRP make a comfort seat which moves you back about 50mm and I use one. At first it seemed little different but when I now sit back on a standard RT It feels very cramped. It also gives a longer reach for arms and at your height I'd guess that too is a benefit. The comfort seat can also be got...

    New to Spyder ..2011 RT

I guess that is aimed at me since I mentioned it earlier. I guess it's a IMHO case but I came from a 998 RT to 1330 RT and missed some of the characteristics of the 998 when I changed. If I was buying another RT, I would definitely consider finding a low miles 998 and upgrading its week points...

    Vibration

    Ah, yours is obviously special....

    Vibration

Nah, if you're referring to the Spyder RT 1330, the low revs vibration is an engine characteristic. It needs to be dealt with by BRP, where there's a will there's a way...but there doesn't appear to be a will... Notably, it doesn't exist on the 998 Spyder.

    New to Spyder ..2011 RT

Congratulations on your new ride. I wouldn't be too hasty at going for a 2017 or later bike, there is a few disadvantages to the 1330cc bikes relative to the 998 V-twin. However, the brakes on your 998cc could be better, as in not as good at stopping you as they could be, take care until you get...

    How to Remove Front Pulley

Lift the bike using a jack on the lower rear shock mount (big wodge of cloth to protect it) pull the belt outwards and rotate the rear wheel, keep pulling and rotating, the belt will walk off the pulley. Replace it by reversing the process so it walks on. Edit: Oops, shoulda said, the rear pulley.

    What is a "CE" model?

Everything sold in Europe has to be certified and will then receive a sticker to prove it. The sticker will have CE on it as proof of conformity. So a CE Spyder will be a Spyder which conforms to European regulation.
