• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It's Happened Before, First For Me

From my first day on the Spyder or Harley I always thought it a good idea to always keep the trunks/tourpaks and saddlebags locked regardless. Protects valuables, equipment and never have to worry about accidental opening

    Silly question about inspections

Not silly at all. The silly ones are those whose answers are found in the owner's manual:banghead:

    feeling unstable

When I came off 2 wheels onto a Spyder last May and started studying this forum l almost gave up on the bike because it seemed that everyone was having issues with their ryde. Issues with EVERYTHING. Fortunately some wise ryder posted the comment that most of what is brought up in the forums...

That's great and what i did multiple times and still do but just look at all the frequently asked simple questions that have answers in the Owners Manual. ....its not an assumption by a long shot.

    RT GAUGES GONE

Agree. For my 2012 RTS I went with voltmeter and USB outlets for GPS/phone. Straightforward install.

    Radio channels above 89 ?

Yep and the Owners Manual is always the best place to start. Seems like nobody wants to read it.....there's much to be learned there .

    Clothing while riding

It's incredibly foolish to ride any motorcycle in shorts, sandals/flip flops and similar items of non-personal protective equipment unless invincible to injuries.....

Horrible handling issue with major wind gusts

Agree-- I'm new to Spyders but my first bikes were Harleys and I've ridden in some tough weather over the years but if the OP was doing 75 mph in severe winds on a bike relatively new to her I'd suggest that judgement was an issue not necessarily the bike.

    How cold will you ride?

On the Harley the lowest was 19°. I ride year-round here in Baltimore and since getting the Spyder last year the coldest ride has been 28° The temp isn't the limiting factor, it's snow/ice.

    Autocycle???

Maryland does and requires helmets as well. After all, the Slingshot is a 3-wheeled, 2-passenger hybrid car/cycle IMHO.

How to gear up to ride comfortably and safely in really hot weather?

This is correct . Whenever there is advice or opinion, always go with the science. In the era of the internet it's easy to find legitimate academic/scientific sources for answers or confirmations

    Winter Storage..Best for tires?????

I live in the Baltimore area and before getting my Spyder in Feb 2017 rode a Harely year 'round. Only snow or ice kept me off the roads. Never had to worry about storage issues. I ride the Spyder the same way. That's why heated gear was invented.;)
