• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has Anyone Gone Back to 2 Wheels

I still have a few beemers in the stable along side the Spyder. We initially got the Spyder for my wife but quickly found out she is not strong enough to drive for very long. That relegates our two-up rides to the Spyder as I no longer feel stable enough at 69 to have her on the back of two...

KUDOS to the folks at SENA

This morning around 9:30 I sent the following message to the folks at SENA praising the build quality of their 10S that I purchased as dual set from Motorcycle Dave 2 years ago. "I just wanted to throw out a little brag about your 10S unit. Several weeks ago, I was leaving a town south of home...

How do I make the trunk 12V outlet always hot?

I've been searching for which fuse to move and/or other things to do to make the 12V outlet in the trunk always hot. I would have sworn I saw this procedure mentioned not too long ago but cannot find it now. I've entered several different word strings in the search engine and scanned through...

Any dealer recommendations in the DFW area?

I had a very bad experience with Texas Adventure Powersports in Richards. Would not recommend them.

What do you do for Emergency Assistance on Far/interstate Road-trips?

If you have a Facebook account, check out North American Biker Rescue (NABR). With over 52K fellow bikers and Spyder riders willing to help, there's a pretty good chance you will be taken care of no matter where you encounter problems.

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I had already posted this but guess not. I need to thank James Thorne from Houston, Tx. for having exorcised the DESS gremlins from my 2014 RT-L when we met up in Las Vegas, NM on Friday, June 23rd. Hoping that is the last I ever see of that worthless piece of technology built in by...

How do you guys with multiple bikes handle Riding other bikes?

When we first brought the Spyder home in Sept 2017, I found myself reaching for the clutch and brake levers as well as trying to put my feet down. Took a few months of riding both to get to a smoother transition.

Need to Replace Parking Brake Cable, re-align actuator wheel, & fix the micro-switch!

I got by without a shop or BUDS. I reasoned that the spring at the caliper end held the brake in the disengaged position. I then thought it only made sense the microswitch told the brake motor when to stop releasing tension on the cable. From those thoughts I decided that positioning my new...

Need to Replace Parking Brake Cable, re-align actuator wheel, & fix the micro-switch!

I never had to remove the switch. Just used a couple different needle nose pliers, one straight and one bent nose and a pair of duck-bill pliers.

Need to Replace Parking Brake Cable, re-align actuator wheel, & fix the micro-switch!

I did the same thing to our 2014 last year and broke the cable and pulley. I don't recall exactly how I held the new pulley in place while tightening the nut but, I'm pretty sure the tab next to the cable connection should be oriented to the top and moves between 11 and 1 o'clock while the tab...

Doing away with DESS using BUDS Megatech

That's what I was thinking as well, hence the need to carry a couple of extra cans of gas. I normally get about 180 miles comfortably and can push it to 200 if I drive really nice at 55 to 60mph. So to get that 260 miles, I'll definitely need to be able to fill up without shutting it down...

Doing away with DESS using BUDS Megatech

After reading my question again, I'm not sure I was clear on the timeline of it. I was referring to prior to getting the DESS delete, (once started will the bike keep running without the DESS check key message and without fear of shutting down so long as it is not killed manually and...

Doing away with DESS using BUDS Megatech

Finally made a connection with jcthorne to meet him closer to home (260 miles). One last question; once started will the bike keep running without the DESS check key message and without fear of shutting down so long as it is not killed manually and restarted?

Doing away with DESS using BUDS Megatech

ya, I've been corresponding with him (jcthorne) but he is 700 miles from me. I'm hoping to find someone closer so it's only a one day ride out and one day home. My old bones won't take any more 700-mile days. AND, he says he is booked up at home through the middle of July with appointment...

Doing away with DESS using BUDS Megatech

So, I've read through all of this thread that started in 2020 and have a question or two. Based on the links provided, I'm seeing a cost of $644.09 for the "Kit" and then a cost of $101.98 for the One year license for the Megatech option. Are those the entire cost to be able to disable DESS or...

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That makes more sense now. I just need to find someone closer to home to do the delete for me. Doesn't seem to be anyone near Amarillo who can do it.

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've started reading this entire thread from the beginning to acquire as much knowledge as I can about this problem. The one big question I currently have is, when was it discovered that disabling the DESS would solve the problem? From what I've read up to page 10 so far is that the DESS sends...
