• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bug- Off. NOT

I asked basically the same question in October of 2012. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?45395-Dead-Bugs&highlight=bugs I never did get any kind of a meaningful answer. I am not sure there is one.

Differences in handling for they years

I went from a 2012 RT-L to a 2014 RT-S. (same as a 2017) Is the 2014 better than the 2012? Yes. Was the 2012 bad? No. If the 2012 looks good and sounds and drives good, go for it. If you were a sport driver, the 2017 would hold a slight advantage. If not, the 2012 will be a great bike.

    Respect ??

I live in southern Minnesota on I-90. By the time the bikers going to or coming from Sturgis get here in August they just don't have much wave left in them. Most try for a few hundred miles but, after a while they just can't keep it up. When we talk to them or when we are out there most are...

BEST WAY TO REMOVE WHEEL WEIGHTS?

:agree::agree:This is what I have done to remove tape weights from all of my aluminum wheels. It is slow and a bit of work but, the WD-40 works as a solvent for the adhesive and helps prevent scratches on the rim.

Fuel Type - anyone use ethanol and any problems?

Actually, ethanol raises the octane slightly and also horsepower. E85 is not apples & apples but, E85 raises the octane to about 106 and on my truck, the horse power increases from 355 to about 385. It also runs really well but gas mileage drops a bunch. BTUs with ethanol are down and as such it...

Fuel Type - anyone use ethanol and any problems?

To a point, octane and ethanol are unrelated issues. Ethanol is OK except for storage times.

    Looking at an RT

For all practical purposes, the is no belt problem on an RT. About the only thing that shows up on this forum is when they get damaged or if someone messes up the alignment. This belt system is much more friendly than the one that was on my 2008 Harley Ultra. No worries.

    removing painted accents

Go to a body shop and have them try some of their solvents. Most will not removed properly cured paints. Maybe Goo Gone will work. I know it does on some paints.

    Engine Oil Survey

I got one last week. The questions were very strange and the answers allowed were quite limited.

    RESET

Many or most of the people here are not familiar with the process of resetting you are referring to. I believe the answer is no. As you are aware, it is fairly common to do this to your Wing at least once per season. I have never heard of it with reference to a Spyder.

New RTS Special Break In Ride

When I was working I had quite a bit of interaction with the auto manufactures. Their general take on break-in was that it was the time when things could go wrong and if the driver/rider is riding cautiously the risk to man or machine is much less. The machine has already been run at or near max...

    Craigslist caution

:agree::agree: Good words of caution. You never know what you will run into with internet shoppers.

    Powder Coating Soyder Wheels

Depending on what you are after, something like this might be a better solution. http://www.rustoleum.com/en/product-catalog/consumer-brands/flexidip/flexidip https://www.duplicolor.com/product/custom-wrap-automotive-removable-paint

    Valve Adjustment

For the most part, this is correct. However, this is where the lack of power or general poor performance comes into play. As mentioned before, a listening tool will let you hear the natural click of the followers. An experienced ear can often detect an out-of-pattern click.

    Hartco/Diamond seats

Not with my RT but, a few years ago I had one on one of my Goldwings. It was OK but not equal to several other seats available at the time.

    Valve Adjustment

Most say that on this type of valve actuation system valve adjustments aren't necessary unless you can hear valve clatter or you are losing power. My Goldwing partners always said that 90,000 would be a good time to check but it was very unusual for them to ever need adjustment. I never did need...

    Dealer Attitude

:agree: For a business that sells and services, it only make sense that the customer that purchased their unit from them would receive a higher priority when it comes to service or any other related activity. This is also normal when it comes to discounts on service costs, parts and/or...

    What do you think?

It might make a neat toy for the kids but it would not make a very good motorcycle.
