• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dont change your own Oil if you want to keep your warranty!

No, just venting. OP might not be telling the whole story but I am frustrated at dealers right now. Mine kinda jerked me around a little on warranty too. David

Dont change your own Oil if you want to keep your warranty!

Actually the monkeys employed by some dealerships are more likely to screw it up Previous owner paid a Can Am certified dealer to change the oil and they overfilled it so bad he had to take it to the other dealer in town and pay them to replace the fouled plugs and clean the oil out of the...

    Why Buy a Spyder?

You hit most of my points. IMHO, it is not quite as "fun" as a leaning two wheeler but.... 1. It is more practical with decent storage. 2. It is more visible, both with a bigger visual profile and with its uncommon design. 3. Most importantly, my wife will let me have it. I broke two...

Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

You are correct, it was throwing codes long before the heat shield mods. The previous owner had the Y pipe gaskets replaced less than 6 months ago. So the way this tech was talking, he was pointing to the plate by my foot and claiming it was trapping hot air in by the Master Cylinder. But you...

Ovreheated - Went into Limp Mode

So stupid question, but how hot should this thing get before the fan kicks on? I don't think I have ever heard the fan turn on (and I have been having all kinds of heat problems). Feeling kinda stupid right now, going to buy a relay on the way home if I can find them at Autozone. David

Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

I really hoped that would be the problem but apparently it was a real problem. Shop said they bled the lines and would get pressure up just fine and then it would act like it had a bubble and no pressure. They bled it several times then gave up and replaced most of the brake system. So yeah...

Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

Nope, I am driving all the way to Katy for Wild West Honda. Nice guys I think but the visit was a little more annoying than I had hoped. See my other thread about my brake failure: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?42446-Brake-Failure-Code-1282-on-08-GS-need-advice. I still...

Brake Failure Code 1282 on 08 GS, need advice

I gotta vent about my dealer... I have only been a Spyder Ryder since Memorial day weekend so this was my first interaction with the dealer. I already am avoiding the closest Spyder dealer because I have seen too many horror stories with that one. I called them a week ago Saturday and...

Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

So I just picked up my bike from the shop yesterday. It was throwing a code "1282" about low pressure in the brake line. So they replaced both front calipers and and the master cylinder under warranty. But the shop guy was very emphatic that the Spyderpops mods to save my feet were cooking...

    Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement

Resurrecting an old thread... Spyder needs a new rear tire and it has 23K miles. I also need an oil change and I was going to order the filter, crush washer, and whatever bearings I need from our new sponsor, Honda East Toledo. Should I go ahead and do the wheel bearings at 24K? How much...

Need someone with a schematic to read me some pin-outs for the computer connector

    1. It is probably the hardest thing to do because that part of interface is totally undocumented. For stuff like gear, speed, coolant temp, I should be able to just "figure it out" by looking at the dash and looking at the data. 2. It is the most dangerous thing to do from a personal...

Has anybody ever thought about / tried a wiki for Spyder?

So I am a new owner and a techie by trade so I want to know all there is to know about owning and modifying my Spyder. I find myself searching the forums a lot to answer simple questions I see asked over and over. Has anyone thought of a wiki to gather the frequent information in one place...

Need someone with a schematic to read me some pin-outs for the computer connector

Good, your understanding basically agrees with mine. I'm not looking to get rich, it is more of a "power to the people" thing. We should not be held hostage to those who can afford BUDS. Not interested in hacking into DESS or VSS or really even the "Nanny". Mainly just want basic...

Need someone with a schematic to read me some pin-outs for the computer connector

Goal: To entertain myself and learn more about the system. I don't think it would be very hard (but probably expensive) to duplicate what I can do with my OBDII adapter on my car. I have some pie in the sky dreams to bring BUDS to the masses but I don't know if it is technically possible or...

Need someone with a schematic to read me some pin-outs for the computer connector

Today I received my mating connectors for the Spyder computer connection. Time to fabricate a cable and see what I can figure out hacking into this thing. There are three wires going into the back of the connector, my Spyder is in the shop right now so I can't even go look at the colors. CAN...

    Bluetooth Netflix through Garmin

Don't have any direct experience with the Garmin but I have some knowledge on the topic. If you you google around, you'll find lots of people complaining about Garmin's A2DP implementation. A2DP is "Advanced Audio Distribution Profile". A2DP is the way a bluetooth device streams music from a...
