• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random things I learned about my spyder this weekend...

The turn signal relocation bracket on the left side has to come off before you can even get the body panel off. Then there is the female bracket that mates with the upper and forward bracket for the factory side hard bags that blocks the battery from coming out. Both are very little tool...

Random things I learned about my spyder this weekend...

    1. I'm missing the rectangular rear inserts on my Givi hard bags on my RS. They weren't there when I bought it used so I did not notice they were missing. Maybe an excuse to buy the LED's 2. The battery is a real PITA to change if you have the Givi bags. Those turn signal extension...

Pin out for that 6 pin Diagnostic connector?

Had trouble guessing the baud rate in software so I drug the oscilloscope out to the parking lot this morning and successfully captured a CAN message off the diagnostic connector. Looks like I was guessing too low. Cool stuff, progress is being made. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

Rider explains why the Spyder is not a motorcycle

For me, it reminds me of the joke about the midget that goes to the bordello... When the madame asks him "who do you plan on pleasing with that little thing?", he replies "me!". I don't particularly care what others think about my vehicle. It's what I chose to make me happy and it does a...

    Texas Memorial Weekend BBQ

I am excited even though I'll miss most of it. Cross your fingers I don't get selected for jury duty tomorrow or I will miss even more of it. I'm local to the BBQ with a garage and cars. If anyone runs into mechanical trouble on the way down PM me or post to the Texas forum and I will try...

Pin out for that 6 pin Diagnostic connector?

And another small update: http://www.sparxeng.com/blog/hardware/spyder-diagnostichacking-2-things-dont-always-follow-the-plan Short version of the above... still figuring out my development platform. Turns out the serial console was trying to update the software when I opened it so I burned a...

Bad case of dumb-rear, left my key on all day at work and killed the battery...

Sigh, I hope I am done with stupid for a while... I was in such a rush to get home in time to pick up my kid I managed to lose my Spyder key somewhere between my failed jump start attempt and bedtime last night. After much searching and swearing I found it in the street out in front of my...

Bad case of dumb-rear, left my key on all day at work and killed the battery...

Doh! Nothing like being in a hurry to get home (had to get the boy to a Boy Scout thing) only to find your Spyder's battery is dead because you left the key on all day... And it was the original battery on an 08 so that sucker is probably toast. Even if it starts after spending the night on...

Do the 622 trailer model years affect adapting it to a GS?

Did not want to jack this thread: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?52543-622-Trailer-Questions But I was curious, is any of the 622 model years easier / harder / better to adapt to a 2008 GS? Does the "viper red" trailer match the 08 red GS? Considering a trailer for a big...

Pin out for that 6 pin Diagnostic connector?

Progress is being made Not a lot of progress but some. Here is a blog post that does not cover much new ground from what is posted here that I put on my company website: http://www.sparxeng.com/blog/hardware/reverse-engineering-the-can-am-spyder-diagnostic-interface I built a cable that...

Bought used Corbin seat for my Spyder, need a prop rod to refuel

Problem solved Thanks to Rayyou for a creative and simple solution. I took a piece of 3/4" PVC and cut it to 11" inches long. Holds the seat way up out of the way and stows nicely under the seat. Strong, simple, cheap, and practical. I love it. If I ever meet up with you at a Texas event...

Thank you very, very much. If I could find that bolt with the built in pivot I would be home free. David

Bought used Corbin seat for my Spyder, need a prop rod to refuel

Learn something new every day. Never heard of "CPVC" before but Wikipedia filled me in. All I had at work was 3/4" PVC so I will see how well that works in the morning and then maybe off to Home Depot. David

    Texas Memorial Weekend BBQ

I surely wish I could participate more, this is right in my backyard. But I have other obligations Saturday. I will probably take half a day off work Friday just to hang out and talk shop and meet any early arrivers. I will miss all day Saturday and probably Sunday too but might show up...

Bought used Corbin seat for my Spyder, need a prop rod to refuel

Thanks for the information all. I have an empty, threaded hole where Arctic shows a strut attached. Don't know if I am missing a prop rod or missing what Arctic has. The can am gas strut would be way too strong attached between the front hinge and that threaded hole so either I am missing a...

That sounds very promising for a solution and I think I have some PVC in the garage. Thanks for the idea. Off to the garage....

Bought used Corbin seat for my Spyder, need a prop rod to refuel

Ok this is still an open and annoying issue for me. Spent 40 minutes on hold with Corbin last week only to be told they won't sell replacement parts to the public, only dealers. So my Spyder-Loving comrades, I'm asking for help: 1. Anybody know a cooperative dealership that will order parts...
