• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Tire repair

Plug it until you can get a new tire. C'mon, it's not like a regular motorcycle that will fall over if you get a flat. Shops won't plug a tire, too much liability.

Can Am "Spot On" alignment tool without Lasers?

IMO a laser is just a tool, in the wrong hands it probably isn't any more accurate than string and tape measures. As long as the measurement technique is based off the rear wheel, any alignment jig is just a tool and not the magic cure.

What is your definition of "warm enough to ride"?

Personally, I would rather ride when it's colder but dry, than if it were warmer but raining. To me, being wet is more miserable than being cold; even with proper rain gear the humidity just feels worse.

What is your definition of "warm enough to ride"?

I would not Spyder much below freezing, but I would snowmobile, it's just a matter of having the right gear and preferences. If I had full heated gear and good snow tires on a Spyder, sure why not.

Tire pressure monitors and valve stems?

We ran valve cap TPMS sensors on our 5th wheel and tow rig all around the country for a year. Rubber valve stems and all. No problems whatsoever. A friend had metal 90 degree valve stems on his motorcycle at the race track, and wondered why his tires were losing air after a lap or two. It all...

Where do you download your music from..........

I haven't downloaded in years. I stream with Pandora or Spotify or use Sirius. If you pay for Pandora premium you can download and create custom playlists, but I don't and simply hit the skip button. My old iTunes library is on a USB stick.

Are Spyders allowed on the Amtrak Auto Train?

That's too bad. I was hoping someone at Amtrak recognized the untapped potential of the motorcycling community. Yes we are an independent lot, preferring to ride instead of trailering. But lots of us have limited vacation time and being able to cross country travel with our bikes on the train...

    Classic average cars

If we're talking about the average car, it had to be the plain jane everyman's daily driver back in the day. Nothing says that more than the 40's Ford Business Coupes.

    Trailering

We trailered our SM5 in the back of the toyhauler with parking brake on and in gear. With proper tie downs your bike should be fine. The rotation of the wheel is from the back end bouncing off the floor.

Summer riding / mesh overpants advice

Most mesh overpants feature a wind liner or quilted liner that zips out. Get those ones, they're more versatile than just plain mesh if you should run into rain or wind or cold fronts. Look for full length leg zippers, they make putting on and taking off easy. Generous sized pockets and vents...

Is a 2010 RS a good first Spyder?

Any GS/RS SM5 is a good first Spyder. They are simpler than the SE and the more complex RT models. They can be had cheaper than the Ryker, and one that's been maintained is pretty reliable.
