• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

good gosh, this was a really bad accident

When we lived in the Atlanta area it seemed like about once a week there were reports of a ladder on the road on one or another of the freeways. There was also an appliance that fell out of a pickup that killed the driver of a four wheeler. That kind of crap is bad for bikers but cagers aren't...

    Rte 66

Route 66 was on our route when we rode through the lower 48 in 2014. We did a lot of research for the trip in order to try and see all the interesting spots (even found dvds of a documentary on the route). Illinois had a lot of neat places to stop, but we quickly found that attempting to...

    CLONE Key's Made

The 2014 and above bikes use a different chip in the key than the earlier models. I don't recall anyone being able to do a clone of those keys, even though there are several threads about key cloning and some that have tried the 2014.

The google search is a good recommendation. You can restrict the google search to just looking at spyderlovers. Just type in your search terms and then site:spyderlovers.com, for example: "semi synthetic oil site:spyderlovers.com"

    CLONE Key's Made

If you plan on being across the border, or know anyone going north you might be able to have it shipped to a US address and handed off to you. I'd love to help you out but I am a bit too far south.

DFW riders - Cowtown PowerSports not mounting non-OEM tires

If the shop wants to take that risk, that is on them. But I would not be upset with a shop that didn't want to risk a $25000 fine for the relatively few bucks they would make off the job. I forget the exact year, but I think it was 2006 that all bikes were required to have catalytic converters.

    CLONE Key's Made

That place wants $20 for the key, http://www.lockpicks.com/aprilia-scooters-transponder-key-rw-zd23rt5-jma.html sells theirs for $7.65. I have been using theirs since 2013 without a problem.

    Blue tooth comm units

We have Sena SMH-10 headsets. Before the Spyder we had a J&M CB on the wife's Kawi and OEM CB on my Venture. We still ride the two wheelers but don't bother to mess with the wired systems anymore. We use the intercoms when riding two up, or separately and haven't had any big difficulty with...

DFW riders - Cowtown PowerSports not mounting non-OEM tires

IIRC the EPA fine for an individual modifying an emissions control system is up to $2500, the fine for a shop is up to $25000. There may not be many cases of shops being taken to court over it, but I definitely wouldn't fault a shop for not risking the liability for the few dollars they would...

    Harley-Davidson café

When HD made the decision to move most of their dealers to be near interstates some of the older HD shops were converted in merchandise shops. The oldest dealer in Florida (St Augustine) was one of those IIRC. Silverton CO has a merchandise dealer and they seem to get a lot of traffic. Harley...

Started Four Corners Tour 09 June

It has been a few years, but the last time I rode a bike up north I95 was practically a parking lot from a bit north of Richmond VA on up to New Jersey. That was on a Sunday, can't imagine traffic has got much better up there. Oh, and my pet peeve about the NE, if you travel on toll roads and...

I see a lot of Harleys. And living in the Hill Country of Texas we get a lot of bikes. Harley makes a good product and they know how to market their product. You can find jerks and idiots riding every brand of MC there is and you can also find some really great people riding those same...
