• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    998cc Transmission Filter Replacement?

If you put the smaller filter in the larger can, the filter will not be secured in place. The oil will just flow around it and no filtering will take place.

2011 RT SM5 parking brake failure

Snowmelt Spyder is 100% correct on this. There should be no reason for a dramatic fix, other than the correct adjustment.

    Any idea where this goes??

It's the neutron drain plug for the Flux Capacitor. Sorry, someone had to go there.

What Hobbies do you have other than the Spyder?

Black powder marksmanship. I shoot a .58 caliber muzzle loader with the North-South Skirmish Association. We typically shoot at 4" targets at 50 and 100 yards, totally off-hand. It's amazing how accurate these old guns are.

Should I upgrade or should I keep it?

Keep it. Look at it this way, if you have a reliable RT and don't ride much, why go into debt and possibly get a lemon. I have a 22 year old pickup truck. My wife asked me when I was going to get rid of that old thing. I told her I don't get rid of things just because they are old. I still...

    Side panel falls off...

I lost my left side access cover several years ago. Those suckers are EXPENSIVE! I ended up securing the new one with a M6 screw (that matches the other screws) and fender nut. I got the screw and nut from Amazon.

    teardrop camper

It doesn't matter if it is a Spyder or any other vehicle. It's a matter of controlling inertia. This is getting to be a pi**ing contest. You go do what you want. I wish you well.

    teardrop camper

Joel: I'm not against towing a trailer. My concern is stopping a trailer. It's just plain physics. When you have a trailer that weighs 1/3 or greater than the weight of the tow vehicle, the trailer needs its own brakes, otherwise the trailer will end up pushing the tow vehicle or worse...

    teardrop camper

Drive your Spyder at 55mph without a trailer and make a emergency stop as fast as you possibly can. Measure the stopping distance. Next, do the exact same with your loaded trailer attached. Measure the stopping distance. Now imagine the predicament you would be in if you had to do that in...

    teardrop camper

Towing requires acceleration and deceleration. Consider: Add the weight of the camping gear and other stuff you will bring along, plus the weight of the trailer. Most likely, the total will be 1/3 the weight of the Spyder. You will need electric brakes on the trailer in order to stop...

Anybody have the part # & dealer for 50 Caliber Antenna

I never heard of it either, so I looked it up. Really cool. The first drawback I thought of was the first jerk that sees it will rip it off and you'll be left with an empty hole. Just thinking out loud.

    Problem with feral cats

Speedycoop had the right idea about cats liking to be high. Build shelves on the sides of the carport to make perches. Stagger the heights so they can get to the top. This is experience speaking.

    CheapCycleParts 2014 Spyder Parts Availability

That explanation sounds like BS. What does it cost them just to list the 2014? If there are certain parts they can't get, all they need to do is mark them "Not Available." They do that on other bikes, like my Valkyrie.

Should my Frunk lid pop up when released?

I had a 2011 RTS. The lid popped up. You may need to shim or bend something. Can't tell without seeing it. Take you time and pay attention to what it is doing. You'll figure it out.
