• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Belt tension and the Krikit

Belt Tension Repeated comparisons at my local Dealer with the Gates high $$ unit showed the Krikit at 160, the Spyder Mechanic agreed the comparison was pretty accurate. I also have the 30 tooth front driver sprocket which backs the belt tension adjusters almost all the way out but enough to...

    Rear tire alignment issues

Belt is a Pain It was a very time consuming project getting my belt realigned, another post suggested raising the rear of the bike and adjusting with it running in 1st gear then into reverse until you get it into the proper position. That worked fairly well but was still a major pain in the...

    Installation of Oxford Heated Grips

Oxford Heated Grips Oxford grips are great, one of the best options for the $$ you can add since somehow Heated Grips are not standard equipment. If I remember correctly, I had to slightly trim the ribs on the throttle tube being careful not to trim too much, They were very snug going on but...

    30t. Sprocket

30 Tooth Sprocket Thank you Sir!!! I am glad someone has continued this since I could not get Industrial Specialty to build a 30 tooth sprocket. The Mels Monster Garage I have is working great, I had put my Spyder on Craigslist since the thing was so annoying screaming down the road but with...

    Front Tires...

Spyder Front Tires You can safely go with Michelin 185's with no worries from my experience, the 185's clear the fenders with no problem. I went with these over the stock ones at only 2500 miles because #1) the Michelins are ROUND and #2) I can have a problem almost anywhere and find a Michelin...

    Spyder RT/RS Wheels

I went to the Dealer today, they said the smoke chrome are the same wheels and would fit, they had an RSS with the really nice Black wheels which had the spacer(maybe 1/2") on the fender brackets that you mentioned. These are all on the stock tire which is considerably narrower than a 185...

    Spyder RT/RS Wheels

Thanks for the reply, I ran across a set of those really nice wheels that were taken off of a brand new RT for $125 for the set. My Spyder has the very basic stock wheels so it would be nice to upgrade without paying the $500 new wheels usually cost. I have upgraded my tires to Michelin 185's in...

    Spyder RT/RS Wheels

    whats my bike worth

Spyder Price In DFW Texas, purchased a 2009 SM5 674 miles, red, original owner, absolute showroom condition, 12 months warranty left, $10,200 this past September. I put it up for sale myself for $12,000 and got 1 call, after installing a 30 tooth drive sprocket, it was much more tolerable at...

    Rear Tire

Michelin Tires Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S, I went with the 185/60R 14's on the front, they are a snug fit but others have said 185's fit and they do. I have only taken it out once with 28 PSI, all is well. First impression was it seemed to turn with less effort but can't say for sure, they were...

    Belt RIP

Belt Life I had heard they lasted 100k or more, everyone says they are better than a shaft drive but I don't believe that one. Good news is that you were not stuck, thank heaven

    Passenger Back Seat Rest??

Backrest It is a safety issue, I would not let anyone ride on the rear without a backrest, our BMW has the nice padded trunk that works a lot better but I have yet to find one accessory on the Spyder that works as well as the BMW accessories.....the only problem....the BMW will fall over...we...

    30 Tooth Sprocket-Industrial Specialty

I got a response from Robert at Industrial Specialty and am sad to say they have decided they will not be machining 30 tooth driver sprockets for those of us that prefer a lower revving Spyder. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate and offer a much needed Spyder accessory. I am very glad...

    Gloves and winter riding...suggestions please

Heated Gear You did not mention if you had heated grips? That was the very 1st thing I installed on my Spyder and I live in Texas where it doesn't get super cold. I ride with a Tourmaster heated jacket/gloves and the pants if it is really cold, it was a great value and came with the controller...

    30 Tooth Sprocket-Installed

To each his Own....Not sure how you calculated the engine wear...but saving 500 RPM is 30,000 per hour while on the highway, I am pretty sure at least 50 of my Spyders 73 hours have been highway miles. Also not sure about your new belt and wear on the clutch, I was actually suprised that the...

    30 Tooth Sprocket-Installed

I could not wait any longer, after doing my 1st oil change this weekend with fresh Amsoil, I installed my still new in the pack Mel's Monster Garage 30 tooth driver sprocket. I had been waiting in case Robert at Industrial Specialty wanted to see it since it had not been installed yet. I...

    30 Tooth Sprocket Update-Industrial Specialty

Our trip riding around Arkansas this weekend listening to the Spyder revving down the highway reminded me that I had not gotten back in touch with Robert at Industrial Specialty. He says they are still considering building the 30 tooth sprocket and are having a meeting next week to discuss it...
