• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Unhappy Spyderlover

My G*d! That's Awful. NJErnie..... I was shocked to read about this! I'm glad that you and your wife are safe but that's a terrible thing to have happen. I hope that the insurance company will come through for you and provide a complete replacement. As a side issue, if the key wasn't in it...

Not originated for motorcycle but the idea is so much of a breakthrough, can a motorcycle version be far behind. Even if not, it's a fascinating idea. http://vimeo.com/43038579# ken tompkins

    End-Of-The-Season Ride

Ed Reyes, the General Manager of Atlantic City Cycle Center, is thinking about sponsoring an end of the season ride on a Sunday late in Sept. The event would start at the Cycle Center in the morning. Then there would be a ride for a couple of hours, lunch and a return to Hammonton. All Spyder...

    The Great Trek +3

The Great Trek - Day 9 On a number of occasions in my life I have been involved with folks working to form themselves into a community if even for a short time. The best example is the archaeological dig I went to in England for 15 summers during the late 1970s to 1990. Each summer for six...

    The Great Trek +3

SpyderAnn01.... What a kind and caring offer! Actually, we are going to be at the dam sometime today. We'll be coming up from Kingman, AZ. I soldered it last night and it seems fine though the roads beat the hell out of me and the bike. The one from Kingman to Oatman was particularly rough...

    The Great Trek +3

The Great Trek -- Day 7 -- Again [I don't want my Spyder to hear this; my experience with objects is that if they know you like and are praising them, they will act out. in that way they are just children. The small type is whispering. You need to know that so far (there is the magical rub) the...

    The Great Trek +3

The Great Trek -- Day 7 I apologize to you all for not writing more posts; there simply isn't enough time in the day. All of our days begin at 6:30; on the hottest days (read: Tucson where the heat index was 111) we start out at 4:30. By the end of the day all of us are wrung out. After eating...

The Great Trek -- Day 4 In the movie "Amadeus", the Austrian Emporer when commenting to Mozart after the first performance of "Cosi fan Tutte", states, Oh so knowingly, that the opera was good but it has one slight flaw: it had too many notes! Yesterday in Vicksburg we started at 4AM to beat...

    The Great Trek +3

The Great Trek -- #1 Hello! My name is Ken Tompkins and I'm an obsessive reader. It all started with "Dick and Jane" (doesn't everything?) and Spot, of course. Then it went on to "My Weekly Reader" then to cereal boxes (remember Kellogs PEP?) and later to all signs (the Burma-Shave ones were my...

    The Great Trek +3

The Great Trek +2 Today's ride was one of great contrasts: hot to cold, poor to rich and back to poor, wide valleys to snapping twists and from five hours to ten. I got out of DC on the beltway (I hate it) to I66 at 5AM; the temperature was 78. I66 connects DC and Front Royal, VA. DC traffic...

    The Great Trek +3

So, I'm unofficially starting The Great Trek today (it starts officially this Saturday at 6AM near Nashville, TN) but stopped at my daughter's who lives in DC to spend time with her, her husband and, best of all, my 4 1/2 year old grand-daugher! The trip was just over 200 miles from the Jersey...

    OK....Sun 6/24 PHILLY STEAK RUN.

Funny you asked! When we arrived we couldn't figure out whether we were meeting at Geno's or Pat's (for non-Philly folk, these two places are across the street from each other). We parked across from Geno's and mrmichaelg spoke with one of Geno's staff who said we could park on his property but...

    OK....Sun 6/24 PHILLY STEAK RUN.

Nice To Meet Our PA Brothers Four from the NJ group (mrmichaelg, Geno and Trish and me) met up with two Spyder riders from the PA group -- XLT and Phantom888 (a two-wheel friend of Phantom888 joined us and I'm really sorry but I didn't get his name or handle). We rode to Geno's Steaks (9th and...

    Fuel canister

Three Hoses Into Canister I've had the BRP upgrade to the canister -- the one where a vent hose is threaded to the fan area -- and I have, on at least two occasions, bolted the purge valve hose (and I've always removed the bolt and gone back to the original configuration). I still have a tiny...
