• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riding in the Everglades & Key West

Nope, just my Yamaha XS500. Had a neighbor with a boat, though. We used to go diving from time to time. Every once in awhile you'd see some "square grouper" floating in with the tide... :doorag:

    Whew! Black Friday is Over.

I went house hunting with my BIL who just moved down here...there's no way in heck I'm going anywhere near a store on Black Friday! Nope. Nope, nope, nope. I was surprised that the traffic wasn't as bad as we thought it would be near shopping centers, but I still wouldn't go out shopping on the...

Riding in the Everglades & Key West

A day trip to Key West from Miami will allow you virtually no time to see and enjoy the city. Try and plan at least two or three days. I lived there back in the bad old days (late '70s and early '80s) and still go down there every couple of years or so.

    Silly people

Guy was just a jerk...plenty of them around on all kinds of motorcycles. Before I retired I had a new branch chief assigned to my section in St Louis. I was talking to him and found he rode. I asked him what he rode and he said a Harley Fat Boy, then asked what I rode. I told him my Yamaha...

Maybe I'm missing something here but......

This is one of the reasons I fired the dealer only 20 minutes from me and use a dealer 60 miles from me. I had NEVER run across such a thing before in all the years I'd been riding, but when I did, I walked away from said dealer. IMHO, it's just stupid for a dealer to have such a policy.

    What's your "traditional" Thanksgiving meal?

Thanksgiving's screaming down on us in just a few days...what's your "traditional" Thanksgiving feast? It wasn't until I was in the military that I realized how different people's Thanksgiving menus were...I find it kinda interesting. Mine? Turkey (recipe by Alton Brown from Food...

    2011 RT

I have a 2011 RT-AC and it's run very well since I bought it new in early 2012. No throttle body problems with it at all. The price sounds good to me.

    new guy question: helmets

First, before you buy any helmet, try it on. I prefer Shoei helmets because they fit me better than others. I currently have a Shoei RF-1100 and it's extremely comfortable to me. It also has a Snell rating which I want on any helmet I buy. That being said, I've tried the new Shoei RF-1200...

    Veterans Day Spyder ride.

Rode in the Veterans Day parade in Melbourne, FL again this year...and really glad I did. There were at least 30 Spyder riders there and, as usual, riding in the parade is something that makes me feel good. Saw many other veterans along the parade route...including a number of WW-II vets...

Attempting To Use iPhone While Riding

I don't, and never have, used a phone (or two way radio), while riding.

    Missed the brake, almost crashed.

I don't have any problems with the foot brake, but if I did I'd get a hand brake installed right quickly.
