• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Garmin Spyder Dealer List DONE!

The dealer is First Coast in St. Augustine and it isn't anything you did, their address is not interpreted in Google the way it's written for the post office so Google takes a guess. It was off by over 30 miles but exactly where Google takes you when you input the street address. I'll send the...

    Garmin Spyder Dealer List DONE!

Lamont, Could you post up a link to the GPX file you referenced a few posts ago? I found a coordinate error for our dealer and the only way to edit it and not lose all the extended data is to use the source GPX file (I haven't found a free converter yet).

    Hindle exhaust and gas smell

Something stupid to try, make sure the gas cap is not cross threaded and is sealing properly. It sounds stupid but with the "clicker" caps it's real easy to think it's on straight only to find it's not sealing and you get a gas smell. Don't ask me how I know :opps:

    Rear Tire Options

While I'm a firm believer that MC tires belong on MC's and car tires belong on cars BUT, since the Spyder basically uses a modified car tire provided by the lowest bidder I think the conversion to another tire is almost a no brainer. Too bad there isn't a compatible front (yet). There are 2...

Mel's Monster Garage Fresh Air Intake

Has anyone seen or tried this yet? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330344588960&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123 And yes, I did multiple searches but couldn't find anything....... ;)

    What GPS is best

I personally like the TomTom's better than the Garmin but their MC offering in the TomTom Rider is quite dated. It compares well with the Zumi 550 but the 660 seems to blow them away (aside from the noted firmware glitches). If TomTom converts one of their newer platforms to a MC version it...

    Paying to much for Insurance?

I have Allstate and pay $271.41 / year for 100000/300000/100000 liability and 500/250 deductible collision/comprehensive but no UI/UM (stacked UI/UM on my 3 cars and in FL that carries over to all other situations). UI/UM in FL will triple the costs. 2 things to check. 1. Make sure they rate...

    Unsafe Ryder

I agree 100% with this. It's up to the group leaders to set the pace and announce what pace they plan on setting from the beginning. If riding your own ride means you are constantly falling back from the pack then the tail gunner should let the lead rider know to slow down the pace. There's a...

    Unsafe Ryder

While I agree that if you aren't comfortable keeping up then falling back to the rear is a viable option but passing in a group ride, especially on Spyders which use the entire lane is simply NOT appropriate in ANY group ride situation unless the person in front waves you past. Race has no...

    Spyder running like crap!

I'm surprised the dealer didn't simply drain the fuel from that tank while they had it. Running bad gas through an EFI system to "clear it out" isn't the best idea. Seafoam is a fuel system cleaner, Stabil is a fuel stabilizer that binds with the water and prevents water from collecting in...

Has anybody else tried this riser yet?

Question, do you lose the steering lock with this part? It looks like the pin that would normally engage the frame holes is now 3" above them? Come to think of it, does the BRP 1" riser do the same thing?

    A different CHAD question

The one on our Spyder is tilted as well. The bracket looks to be perfectly aligned but the shield itself twists when it's installed on the bracket enough to make it less than perfectly aligned. I shimmed the bracket a little to get it close but it's still a but off. I chalk it up to...

    Cost for 600 mile service

$326 with tax and all parts. I was surprised at the high price but they did go through the entire checklist, checked all the required torque values, checked alignment, connected to the computer and did the oil/filter change. I thought it was about $150 too high but we decided that at least for...

O2 sensor eliminator and Hindle results

Everything is based on RPM and delta RPM. Load is perceived as a rapid change in RPM (and injector pulse width with some pulse width modulators). Cruise is sensed as relatively static RPM. RPM is calculated based on the time between injector pulses. It's really a very simple device that...

    relays, always carry a spare!

If indeed the dealer cost in ~$10 then why bother with an aftermarket that's going to cost $9.00? Just call up your dealer and order 2 spares for $20 and change.

iphone and ipod touch users...new app for SpyderLovers

Lamont, I noticed here and on GL1800Riders there are no style options. Woudn't it be easier to introdice an iPhone / Mobile phone style instead of having the site translated through a 3rd party service? http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=174375&page=37

Hearing is one Thing, Seeing Another

I'll third that. Locking up the rear is common among Harley riders. I've talked to many that either never use the front brake or are so afraid to use it for fear of a washout that they always overuse the rear. Practice, practice, practice AND spec ABS on the next bike. I have ABS on my V-Rod...

Throttle Lock Cruise Assists Now In Stock!

Thanks MM, I have both bars and a micrometer so I'll take some measurements. The factory end caps go in just fine but they are very pliable so minor differences aren't important. I'll post what I find. (but it will have to wait, the Spyder is at the dealer getting it's 600 mile service)
