• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

62k miles.... now you see it and.... now you don't

Back to the point, these two hit the nail on the head. I had a similar problem with a 2004 Volvo and the trip odometers. They would get to 621 miles and reset to 0. A software patch fixed it. Under US law the odometer must write to fixed non-volatile memory and I believe electronic odometers...

Where did the weight come from?

I guess that would depend on what type of motorcycle you're talking about. An 800 lb Harley Ultra Classic has a 65HP motor in it and the majority of them sold do not get modified significantly. The power curve of the RT is very close to the BMW RT, coincidence, I think not ;) People get too...

    RT Options

Actually FRS/GMRS is far superior to CB but when you consider your type of communication you need to consider your riding group. CB's are quite common with most touring riders because A, many top line bikes come with them or have them as integrated options and B, many long distance riders want...

    RT Options

It looks like they caught the Honda disease when it comes to CB radio pricing..... I never understand how they can take $25 in electronics and turn it into a $650 option. Even Harley makes it standard with the top end radios.

Any Update to the Update Yet?

:agree: Our Spyder ran good before the update and now runs even better after it. The dealer has a very good Spyder specialist and he made a point of describing all of the patches that were being applied. He then re-ran the check to make sure everything was at the most current level...

    saw the RT today

I always find it interesting that people equate comfort / touring with an age qualification. I used to think that way until I took the time to ride a familiar route on a true touring bike vs. my cruiser, sport or sport "touring" bikes. Getting to your final destination and still wanting to...

    Who has Grip Puppies?

I use them on my Goldwing, I love them.

    Like what I see RT

I felt the same way in '97 when Porsche abandoned air cooled motors :joke: From what I've learned talking to H-D people it will be a watercooled version of the venerable 45 degree V-Twin possibly spread to 50 degrees and made to look, sound and yes, vibrate as much as the current TC96 motor...

Got any questions about the RT you want me to ask?

If you recheck the site you'll see that the SE5 is available on the top two models but it's optional. The manual is standard on all models. The SE5 is a $1500 option.

    Like what I see RT

Absolutely, I expect 2011 to be a very interesting year with a new Goldwing, BMW LT and probably a water cooled version of the H-D touring bikes. Honda is also rumored to be working on a V-4 sport touring bike as well.

Yep, Yellow Wolf is quite the rider. I had the Wing up in the N. Ga mountains last week and it does defy some of the laws of physics considering it's size and weight. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start a fight. I just dislike blanket statements that don't take into account...

    Needs bigger engine, taller gears

They get more HP but it's in a different place. Also, HP is nothing more than Torque * RPM / 5252 so by virtue of tuning the motor to run higher RPM's they can publish higher HP numbers. Aprilia RSV 1000R...

Yes, the stock GW has roughly twice the HP than a stock 96ci H-D and for most practical purposes you can hustle the GW around faster than a Harley UNLESS you do 3 things to the Harley. 1. Purchase a 2009 to get the new frame, 2. Install the 103 ci kit with custom cams and decent headwork and 3...

Can't find info on the CB

Oh, I can pretty much guarantee it will be a BRP specific CB simply because it needs to interface to the rest of the electronics. The kicker will be the price. Honda gets $799 MSRP for the CB "box" you plug into the existing wire harness plus another $160 MSRP for the antenna and mount. I...

I'm confused, IMHO the current spyder has always been the "sport" version. I think those waiting for a "sportier" version will be waiting a long time. (RT = Roadster Touring, RS = Roadster Sport) Also, those who think it needs a bigger engine without even riding this one always crack me up...

Can't find info on the CB

It could be like the Goldwing, all the controls and logic are put on the bike but it doesn't become active until you spend an additional $800 on the CB and antenna nojoke

    Needs bigger engine, taller gears

Over the last 10 years roughly 1 MILLION people have purchased Harley "touring" bikes with 60% of the HP and the roughly the same torque as the RT and the majority of them think they have all the power they need. 100HP and 80TQ is perfectly fine in a touring machine. Cruising at 4500 RPM is...

    I Love this bike!!

Update on the fuel (and not wanting to start an octane war). I suspect the regular at this particular station was contaminated, probably water intrusion. The Goldwing, being a lower compression motor, was able to handle it but the Spyder wasn't happy at all. Lots of stuttering, hiccups and...

    Garmin Spyder Dealer List DONE!

I assumed Google was used to geocode these but that may have been an incorrect assumption after looking at it again. First Coast is a group of 2 dealerships owned by the same person. First Coast Suzuki is where the Can-Am's are sold and is on US1 South. First Coast Honda was on RT16 in the...
