• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Highway pegs that mount to floor boards

I installed pegs from Lamonster. Not really a problem, maybe just my preference, but as delivered the pegs stuck way out away from the tryke. I moved the pegs to the inside of the brackets but had to hacksaw about an inch off each peg to clear the bodywork. Note that the pegs are good for...

HowTo: 2020 RT Oil Change Warning

My concern was for whatever else is included in the "3,000 mile checkup" that is called for in the owner's manual. I don't know what gets checked, but I didn't want to learn the hard way. As far as the oil change goes, car companies are notorious for denying warranty claims if the oil and...

    Oil Change - anyone used dip-stick pump/sucker?

My concern has to do with protecting your warranty. Who is doing your "3,000 mile checkup"? Will you dealer honor your warranty if something happens at 7,500 miles? On my 2019 I felt it was prudent to pay the dealer to change the oil and do the checkup. At the same time I had the laser alignment...

    2019 RT-limited Key Chip

I lost the spare key to my 2019 RTL. Dealer replaced and coded the key to my Spyder for $42. YMMV.

    Your First One

First for me was a 1972 Harley Sportster (kick start when it wanted to run). Bought when I was in the Navy in Newport News VA. Dealer charged me $100 to be number 8 in line waiting for one! Later I learned the union contract with HD expired every even numbered year and production slowdowns were...

    First Ride Today....

I don't have nearly the experience on 2 wheels that you do, but I did ride 2 wheels regularly since 2002. My 2019 RTL felt "twitchy" since day one, but I kept learning to relax my grip, different handlebar push/pull methods, weight shift etc with some improvement. Last week I had the 3,000 mile...

Do you Push or Pull thru turns?

Also fairly new to Spyders, only have 3,000 miles on my 2019 RTL. Just got the laser alignment which helped a lot with the twitchy feeling. I'm not sure if I've settled on a when to push vs. when to pull method yet. I try my best to relax my grip on the handlebars BUT sweet - jingling - jeepers...

    Best Trailer For Hauling Spyder

Will - You didn't mention what size trailer you're getting. My experience is that my 2019 RTL (spec sheet says 5' 2.5" wide) would not fit through the door opening on my Pace 6 X 12 cargo trailer. Measure what ever you decide to buy to be positive the Spyder will fit. I ended up getting a 7 X 14...

Cup holder for a Yeti - 30 oz. cup

My bladder will not hold a 32 oz. Yeti!

Finished my Lights back in September. Check out the video.

I really like how the lower rear tupperware is also painted white. Looks a lot nicer than the black plastic.

    Poll on navigation preferences

If my day's journey includes more than 2 roads, I write the route number and an arrow to indicate turn direction on blue painter's tape. Stick the tape to the top of the tank and I won't get lost (at least not today).

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Today I put the first scratch in my 2019 RTL. Pulling into my shed, standing on the footboards so I could look over the windshield and get the front really close to the back shed wall. Got close to the wall, right foot missed the brake pedal (note to self, get the bigger pedal!). Hit the wall at...

    Riding in the Rain

For cheap waterproof gloves, I use XXL yellow kitchen gloves pulled over my thin leather gloves and slid up over the cuffs of my rain jacket. You didn't mention boots, but I use cheap pull over stretchy rubber boots from Tractor Supply. They pull over my riding boots and fasten with one big...

    Oh no, another trailer question!

I thought I had it made! I had a 6X12 enclosed Pace cargo trailer with ramp door that I used to haul my Harley back and forth to Florida. Guess what? My new 2019 Spyder RTL would not fit through the door opening! Too narrow by about 1.5". So I now have a 7 X 14 tandem axle all aluminum enclosed...

Need trailer to haul a Ryker & Motorcycle

With respect, I disagree with the choice of single axle vs double axle with brakes. The spyder and a full size motorcycle will weigh almost 2,000 pounds. My 7X14 all aluminum tandem axle trailer weighs 1600 pounds. That's way too much weight for a mid size SUV to be stopping without assistance...

    Handicapped Spyder Ryders.....Roll call!

I rode 2 wheels off and on since 1972 (all Harleys). But in the early spring of this year I started to develop pain/weakness in my left leg. Sciatic nerve issues plus arthritis and other problems in the hip made riding my 2015 Heritage Softail unsafe for me and those around me so I quit. Just...

    Smartphone network and battery lights

I plug my phone into the USB plugs in the frunk just to keep the battery charged while I play Sirius XM via bluetooth. I don't need to answer calls when I'm trying to enjoy the serenity of a ride. I'll check for voice messages when I reach my destination.

    Finally pulled The Trigger.

I agree with MonPaul above. I'm also a brand new Spyder 2019 RTL owner and I thought I needed the stiffer sway bar. Now that I've got 600 miles on it, I'm starting to think the bar is unnecessary. The secret (I think) is to relax and loosen your grip on the handle bars and to lean into the...
