• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    1330cc 2020 RT 1st oil change at 1600 miles

Here's another fairly scientific explanation of WHY changing your oil too early is bad. Not just "because the book says so". LONG ARTICLE from another forum discussing diesel engines. STOP STOP STOP! The ORIGINAL factory APPROVED oil change interval is 30,000 miles! YES 30,000 MILES!! Did...

UPDATE! Amplifier parasitic battery drain 2021 S2S - STILL UNRESOLVED!

Joel, If you use a switch or relay to totally isolate the amp, won't you lose the clock and the radio presets every time you turn it off?

    pain in the a_ _

Spyders are no worse than newer pickup trucks. On most, it's easier to remove the body from the frame to work on any major engine components like turbos, heads, etc. When they are built a chassis comes down the assembly line with the engine, trans etc already installed. Then a body floats down...

Comments and opinions welcome.... is the 2021 worth the upgrade?

swapped 2019 for a 2021 Joe, I agree with those above who are impressed with the 2020-21. I traded my 2019 for a 21 RTL for the more comfortable seats, much improved floor boards and more options with handlebars. I did not expect, but am very pleased with the much smoother highway ride and...

How do you Remove the Rear Seat on a 2020 Spyder RTL?

It helps if you push down on the front of the rear seat while pushing on the tabs one at a time.

Don't really expect an answer, but WHY all the BuRP ads?

Why does BuRP flood the internet and TV with adds for Spyders when they can't supply existing demand? Three dealers in SW Florida have no 2021 models in stock and don't know when or if they'll get some. I bought the only 2021 RTL I could find within 150 miles of Ft. Myers Beach. Which leads to...

Tying Spyder down in Toy Hauler? Tie down location wrong...

Not for a Spyder, but a Harley in a previous toy hauler. I mounted a Condor wheel chock to a 2X2 heavy aluminum angle about 3 feet long. Cut slots in the base of the angle to slip over the rings on the existing tie downs. Put carabiners through the part of the ring that stood above the slots in...

    metal valve stems?

Try Tire Supply Network . they have many different styles and lengths of true metal valve stems. Some that are advertised as metal are only metal outside the wheel and the part that holds the stem into the wheel is rubber...

    Another dealer dropping Spyder Line

My selling dealer just dropped the Spyder and Riker lines. The stated reason is the slow economy in upstate NY and "extreme pressure from BRP". Ingles Performance in Fulton NY (about 35 miles NW of Syracuse). They are keeping the off-road products.

    19 RTL Vibration/Tensioner Movement issue . Fix?

Rich, I also have a 19 RTL with a recently installed LaMonster tensioner. IMO, it's more correctly a "vibration damper". I used a Krikit II gauge to set the belt at 200 pounds with the wheel on the ground. I found very little difference between tension readings with the wheel off the ground, but...

    Full Tank of Fuel

The problem (design) of the fuel tank is that there's no long filler neck like on a car/truck. If you shove the fuel nozzle all the way into the opening, the nozzle will trip off long before the tank is really full. I insert the fuel nozzle to just below (1/8 inch) under the plate in the filler...

    Belt tension, N vs lbft

    Belt tension, N vs lbft

Well, I installed the tensioner. What a CF! I think I used every tool in the garage and a trip to Harbor Freight. The bolts that came out of the frame tube to footboard bracket refused to go back into the holes they came out of. After about 4 hours I finally got all three bolts started and tight...

    Belt tension, N vs lbft

Well, I tried it at 160lbs and the vibration was gone at 72 MPH! But it vibrated like crazy at 44 MPH. Here's my theory- the belt is like a guitar string, the tighter it gets, the higher the frequency at which it vibrates. Lowering my tension merely lowered the frequency. As proof of my theory I...

    Belt tension, N vs lbft

Please be gentle, I'm new at this lbf vs n thing. I have a 2019 RTL with 4,500 miles. I get a slight "beat frequency" vibration most noticeable at 72 mph. My repeated readings on Krikit is 230# WOG. If I understand all the explanations above it should only be about 160#WOG. I just want to know...

    Epic Spyder Fails

Moving my new RTL into A 10x12 storage shed. Trying to get as close as possible to the back wall so I stood on the footboards and leaned forward to see the nose. Gently gave is some gas and then missed the brake pedal when it was time to stop! Put a nice deep gouge in the sharp edge of the frunk...
