• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Motorcycle Discrimination

:hun: That's horrible. If it makes you feel any better, I prefer to ride with 2 wheelers... The only time I don't like to ride with someone is if they ride their bike like it's stuck in molasses...I like spirited rides...

Why Rise in Motorcycle Deaths Hasn't Meant Tougher Helmet Laws

Interesting piece...the numbers are very clear. It was the same with seatbelts and child seats. Like I've said repeatedly...don't wear a helmet and pay more insurance. Can't argue with the facts that helmets save lifes, productivity, etc... It's always a 'choice' issue...so be it...keep it a...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

It really just comes down to a money issue. Not wearing a helmet costs more when there is a problem. If this is known, should the rest of us have to cover the cost of people who choose not to wear a helmet?

iPod interface does not seem logical

Hey, at least you RTers have an ipod option! Back in the days of 2008, with a model called the GS, integrated ipods were a far distant technology! Some ipod is better than no ipod, IMHO. Actually, I can hook my ipod up directly to my Garmin G4, but I wish I had an integrated system of some...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

Who cares if motorcycles are more dangerous than cars? That's why the coverages are not blended. That has nothing to do with our discussion. Nobody with car insurance gives a hoot about you or me and our motorcycle coverage as they are totally separate. The facts are not clear as you are...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

The responses here are great and varied... Failure to wear a helmet costs not only your loved ones but it is a burden on the rest of us to keep you alive (should you survive). This is not a position that can be argued. Someone mentioned that the studies are not valid unless you do the work...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

Please show me something to the effect that these numbers are 'twisted'? 'To each his own'...fine...just be 100% responsible should anything happen. Don't expect anyone else to pay for pure out foolishness...I think this is a fair approach. I'm starting to wonder if someone here who is all...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

You're funny. I do have non-slip surfaces in my bathroom...for obvious reasons. Please show me the studies about non-slip surfaces and traumatic brain injury/death due to people who do not have them....and the associated costs... Again, we're talking about known facts and numbers here...not...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

The problem is that when someone doesn't die and their injuries cost tremendous amounts of money to keep alive as vegetables. Nobody should be responsible for someone's inability to figure out some basic reasoning skills. If people really want to hinge their understanding on 'freedom' and...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

You're out of line with your reasoning. Show me the data on the numbers of brain/head injuries and the cost and I'll tell you where we should start. There are recalls of devices all over the home all the time to help safeguard the public. It needs to be done because most people don't know the...

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

I'm trying to figure out why everyone keeps looking at other things to justify not wearing a helmet. Let's stick to the topic and not get emotional about it. Facts are facts... As far as other hazards go, sure they exist...no question....but this study is on one very serious and expensive...

I'm the one who posted it silly...I'm commenting on her comment about poor fitting helmets as being a reaon NOT to wear a helmet and going back to that ole 'choice' thingy... She's giving an opinion...the facts are clearly contrary...(as per the study)

The only counter to this argument is through Darwinism...you will have selective extinction...however, to me, it comes down to dollars and cents...if you want to be irresponsible, be 100% responsible for your 'choice'...that option alone will probably put a lot of helmets on heads! This is...

Show me the studies on that please? Evidence trumps opinion by a long margin, IMHO... Are you inferring that an 'informed choice' means that with the data being clear, you think that straps and improper helmet fit justify not wearing a helmet?

Personal choice to wear a helmet? Based on the FACTS, all states should have mandatory helmet laws...the only way around this is unless the person who's not wearing one signs off on paying 100% of their own medical bills if there is a problem. The numbers speak for themselves. it's not...
