• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Ryding prescription sun glasses

Prescription sunglasses are expensive and easy to lose. Better alternatives would be: (a) dark tinted visor for your helmet, possibly combined with tinted Pinlock; (b) Transitions lenses that turn your regular glasses into sunglasses when you're outside and back into regular glasses when...

    Student Loan Dumbness

I also agree -- except the trades are definitely being outsourced. Our own house in Las Vegas was built, I'd say primarily, by illegals who do plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, etc. This information came from the contractor's QC representative himself. And it was a nationwide American...

Belt guard is truly the missing part

I don't think you gave enough information to justify your conclusion. When and how did the tear occur? Was the damage provably sudden because you were checking the belt in its entirety every time you ride? Was there a specific incident in which a rock got caught and destroyed the belt...

    Harley Clamping Down on Owners

Well, it IS pretty far off topic (the original topic was pollution, now it's all about Harley noise) but it DID veer away from political. I agree about the one-line retorts, but the subject (whether it be pollution or Harley noise) is still interesting enough that I'd hate to see the whole...

    Harley Clamping Down on Owners

Mostly I would agree. You refer to "a small unelected group of people now defines healthier, have been given power and funding." Who gave them power and funding? Answer, your elected representatives. IMO the main problem here is that our elected representatives aren't doing their job. They...

Moving my Spyder in an emergency?

Around here all the tow trucks use a flatbed. They hook on and pull the vehicle up onto the flatbed. As billybovine said, moving them a short distance (like up onto a flatbed) shouldn't hurt the Spyder. I would be more worried about whether the nose of the Spyder hits the flatbed but probably...

    Harley Clamping Down on Owners

Off-road vehicles already DO have to be registered in NV, UT, AZ and CA (see, e.g., https://ohv.nv.gov/register, https://dmv.utah.gov/vehicles/atvs-dirt-bikes, https://www.ridenowpeoria.com/information-about--off_highway_registration). Since you were clearly wrong on that point, I didn't bother...

    Harley Clamping Down on Owners

Why should emissions standards for off-road vehicles be different from those for on-road vehicles? Pollution is pollution, no matter the source. Consider a street-legal Jeep versus e.g., a Can-Am off-road vehicle. Both are used off-road but what rational reason is there for the Can-Am to be...

For Those Ryding with an iPhone -- A Few Questions, Please

Regarding first statement, your screen is what burns up most of the power. Your screen will power down after a few minutes of nonuse. Also, you don't have to leave Google Maps active when you are going long distances without turning. If you are going 100 miles before your next turn, turn off...

Regular or premium, that is the question???

I have a pdf copy of the owner's manual from my 2017 RT and this is an exact copy: "Recommended Fuel: Use premium unleaded gasoline with an AKI (RON+MON)/2 octane rating of 91, or an RON octane rating of 95." Maybe you have a different model but MY manual definitely does not say it's designed...

Well, aren't you Mr. Fancy Pants motercycle rider...

I think that's a brilliant idea. If they made one big enough to fit my Spyder, I think I'd buy one, put the Spyder in it behind my back yard wall, and free up some garage space.

    rt noise

I agree, my Spyder does exactly the same thing, mostly when just slowly rolling. If that's what the OP is hearing, it's nothing to worry about. However, it's hard to interpret the OP's phrasing, "noise sounds like the left front makes a scrubbing noise on the gas does not does it off...

How many miles to be even??

If you have the money and enjoy it, it's worth it. If you don't enjoy it, it's not worth it at any price. The OP's example is just absurd. Assuming you enjoyed riding it - if you drove your Spyder/Ryker until it had zero trade-in or resale value in the real world, you would have gotten your...

    Helmet storage 2018 RT LSE6

If I don't have the SENA communicators on them, I can get two full-face Arai helmets in my RT's frunk, my size XL and my wife's size S. I did this for the first year I owned the RT but then I got other stuff I put in the frunk and so now I only keep the wife's helmet there. But the frunk can...

    A tax question

In yet another word: Maybe. Have either of you ever seen the tax code? It's hundreds of pages long. There is a word for this: Complicated. I get really sick and tired of people acting like complicated subjects are simple. They're NOT. It's entirely possible for one person to get a tax cut...

    Helmet security

FinFan3DP does what my wife and I do. We both wear full-face helmets. Wife's in the trunk, my size XL fits in the side compartment (helmet facing inward, front of helmet to front of Spyder). My wife's helmet fits with the SENA on it no problem at all. For my helmet, I slide the SENA off its...

    A tax question

According to Motley Fool, the tax rates have been lowered and the standard deduction has been almost doubled, but the personal exemption has been eliminated. For a married couple filing jointly in 2017, two exemptions x $4150 plus $13K standard deduction meant that $21,300 would be excluded...

    Best Cell phone mount?

Mob Armor clamps the phone at the top while two angled brackets hold it at the bottom and sides, then the whole thing fits into a RAM mount. The advantage here is that the Mob Armor doesn't interfere with anything on the phone yet it is holding all sides with an actual clamp rather than just...

Cam Am admits their fuel gauge is crap!

I just finished a ride just moments ago on my 2017 RT-S and turned on the computer and saw this thread. I have not had any similar problem with my gas gauge. It seems to drop steadily and is very accurate for this type of vehicle. For example, just before I came home, my gauge had just gotten...
