• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Shifter adjustment, differently

Ok, so the word was an inch over stock. I adjusted the piece, welded it solid (again, fusion weld with no added filler) then sandblasted it, wire wheeled it, gave it a coat of gun blue and a coat of clear. I'll get it in the mail and see how Catalyst likes it, and make any adjustments needed...

    Heated grips installed, differently

Good to know, my wife has a set to install on her ryker. FWIW the F3 has a pretty sizable alternator (85a) so I’m not too worried about current draw.

    Heated grips installed, differently

Yup, that’s exactly it. On any other bike the throttle tube is right at 1” so the Oxford is a tight press fit straight over it. My F3’s throttle tube was around 1.060” so I had to sand it down after I cut off the grip. Side note, today was the first longish ride with them. This morning was...

    Shifter adjustment, differently

A friend I haven't met yet reached out and asked me if I could make a shifter tip replacement (SM6) that's longer than stock so I said I'd take a look. I figured it'd be easy, a couple of round bits welded together with some flat bit in the middle. Turns out the stock shifter tip is splined...

    Heated grips installed, differently

So in my continuing effort to thwart BRP making every accessory cost $300 for mediocre stuff I decided to add a set of Oxford heated grips. I've had Oxfords on literally every bike I've had for the past 15 years (that didn't come with factory heated grips) Multiple levels of heat, comfortable...

    GPS Installed, differently

Thanks! That's a Zumo 396. Took it out for a ride the other day with my wife (her on her Ryker) and the GPS was in the perfect spot.

    GPS Installed, differently

Using the excellent advice of Rattlebars (Thanks!) I picked up the correct connector from amazon for small money, soldered that onto my existing GPS harness and got the whole thing wired up. Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr Wire routed, ziptied to OEM harness. Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on...

    That’s where I bought my F3-S SM6. Great business.

    F3-T Black Paint

I don't believe there is any black paint on those panels. I think it's just the bare plastic, which is why it scratches so easily.

    Shad bags installed, differently

So I finally got a chance to put paint on the brackets. Three coats of VHT epoxy black with a few days to cure, then a few heavy coats of VHT wrinkle finish black to match the OEM powdercoat look. I told my wife I needed to use the oven to cure the paint and she became very unreasonable, very...

    GPS Installed, differently

I took the GPS off my old bike before I traded it in so I needed a way to mount it. The BRP mount is nice, but way more than I wanted to spend. I've seen a couple other top clamp mount plates, but they all seem to use Ram mounts which are great if you need the adjustability but seem too much...

    Shad bags installed, differently

I bought the shad bag kit when I got my bike last year, but they didn't arrive till recently. I installed the bags and immediately hated them. The brackets are huge, they stick way out, and it looked like I had been rear-ended by a jungle gym. Fortunately they were made of regular old metal...
