• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check your front pully bolt ...AGAIN!

Ken's oil change kit tripped my trigger to check it again. It has a little note in it with the new spec as part of the instructions.

Check your front pully bolt ...AGAIN!

If you dont mind flexing the left rear panel (thats how I do it cause I have bags) it can be done by only removing the one you need to remove to check the oil, the one above it, and the one behind/below it. Same as changing your oil minus the little one underneath.

I think my rear bearings are shot...

Is there a supplier of bearings out there besides the dealer? I just hate to pay double for something I don't have too. (That's not a ding on Spyder dealers, It's a ding on OEM in general)

Check your front pully bolt ...AGAIN!

I just finished servicing my Spyder at 7500 miles (Last service was at 5000) During the last service I retorqued the front pully bolt to 89FT/LBS Suposedly, thats all you need to do and you dont need to recheck it. I re-checked it anyway and it moved 1/4 turn before the wrench clicked...

    HMF Carbon Fiber Exhaust installe...

I can see why they said that because it does not fit. The advertisments say it fits "all HMF pipes" but I tried to install it yesterday and it wont fit without some modification to the end cap. Oh well, It wont be the first time I spent money on "shelf liner":gaah:

    HMF Carbon Fiber Exhaust installe...

And it is still working very well, I might add! I did just buy the quiet core and spark arrestor screen, but I am gonna have to modify a few things to get that to fit (imagine that!)

I thought you guys were doing the FL express. I am going and would love some Company. I plan to leave on the 21st and make it a 2 day back road ride. Tools Needed To Replace Battery

I just looked at the manual and it really does not add much as far a battery removal. It just says remove the LH upper side panel and the LH rear panel. What it does say that is important: The battery is mounted on it's side so you must use a sealed battery. Battery info: Battery Type: VRLA...

    Lodging for The Dragon

The Iron Horse in Robbinsville is a great place. It is a motorcycle campground but they also have cabins. They have a huge clubhouse/common area where they serve breakfast and dinner and is totally geared to motorcycles. Very nice people. They even let us use there shop and tools for a couple of...

    Insurance Cost

Yep, these things are expensive to insure. The reason is they are new. The insurance companies dont have any data on them yet so they are playing it "safe" ..... for themselves. Mine was not $900 (more like $500) but it was still about the same as I was paying for 2 bikes. It should come down in...

same tire on front and rear

I can't comment on the G-force specifically but ...... Let me first state that I have always been a believer in buying 4 new matching tires at the same time for my cars and trucks. Having said that, I think the Spyder is a different animal (duhhh!) but as far as tires go. I just purchased 3...

    Second DPS failure.

Hey Dave, Mine, uh...... your old one, is doing great. I know it's been changed at least once, but I have had no issues at all (except for me blowing the tail light fuse, but I caused that.) Very Happy Spyder Owner! I am sorry to hear of your issues Doc, but it seems that you like to...
