• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gates Krikit II Belt Tension Gauges

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll just make measurements all three ways for the heck of it. "Wheel up on the hitch jack stand" should be the same as "wheel on the ground" as I suspected and I'll report my findings. BTW Ron, I got the plugs in today's mail. Thanks. Mike in KY

    That Sucking Sound

I changed my '12 RT-S SE5 to JT's air filter some time back and really liked it, at first. It definitely helped the heat problem, but I'm growing weary of the "sucking" sound whenever the bike is under throttle. Back when I was 18, I loved the sound of those secondaries kicking in on a 300 HP...

Gates Krikit II Belt Tension Gauges

Rear Wheel Elevated? Ron, Whenever I work on my '12 RT, I raise it from the right side with a HF style ATV jack and use jack stands under the lower A arms just inside the front tires. Then the back end has a jack stand under the trailer hitch. Would this still constitute a proper "wheel...

Has anyone given their Spyder a "Name"???

I named mine "Katy", after Katy Williams who worked at Louis Powersports back in 2013 when I bought mine cuz she was so helpful with the paperwork. Mike in KY

How far did you travel to get your spyder?

Not Very Far About 50 feet, from my front door to the street. I bought my 2012 RT-S SE5 from Louis Powersports in Greenville, TX and was lucky enough to find a guy that delivered it to my house for less money than I would have spent driving or flying there. That was back on April the 7th...

    Are there any Ky Ryders?

Kentucky Ryders Anybody from KY going to "Spyders on the Bayou"? Will be leaving Glasgow on Wednesday morning headed toward Bowling Green and then south toward the west side of Nashville to pick up the Natchez Trace for lunch at the Loveless Cafe. Then take the Trace to Tupelo or maybe even...

RotopaX Gas Cans - Gasoline Smell

Anybody besides me have a problem with gasoline fumes escaping from a 1 gallon RotopaX can stored in the right side saddle bag of an RT? Not liquid leaking, but just fumes. I've talked with the folks at RotopaX and they basically told me "tough s _ _ t, fumes from gasoline stored in any kind...

Who has done their own XenonDepot Extreme HID Install?

HID Install Any easy way to power up the headlight circuit on a '12 RT-S SE5 without actually starting the engine? I need to make that polarity check. Mike in KY

    2015 Kentucky/Lake Barkley Spyder Ride.

2015 LBL Ride Moving the base to Murray sounds good. We can all stay at your house, right? Instead of just riding the Trace, how about some of the paved side roads in LBL? I rode a few of them on my return trip back to KY from Illinois the end of last October and liked it. And that liquor at...

    Replacement windshield arm

Pictures? Anybody even have pictures of failed parts? Especially close-ups of the fractured surfaces. I'm wondering if these failures are fatigue related. If so, judicious shotpeenig could help. I may try that anyway when I change out my black painted windshield bracket for the powder coated...

We Have ALL Got To Try This Car!

My 1973 vintage GE Elec-Trak E10m lawn tractor powered by six 6 volt deep cycle batteries can do the same thing, well sorta. Okay, maybe not. But it is fairly quiet. And last summer I pulled my neighbor's 60" cut ZTR Grasshopper out of a ditch. And many years ago in a tug-of-war, I drug a 14...

My solution to using a Battery Maintainer...

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Mike, Go ahead and keep your Schumacher unit. I definitely would not put that brand in the same category as Harbor Freight stuff. It's just hard for me to accept that some guys spend $25K on a Spyder and then $10 on a HB battery maintainer. Just my opinion and we...

My solution to using a Battery Maintainer...

Dan, Not a GE retiree, I just got hooked on these things back in the early 70's. That's my General Electric E10m Elec-Trak riding lawn tractor that I bought new in 1973 and I'm still using it. It runs off six 6-volt golf cart batteries. As long as I can keep her running, I'll never go back to...

    Ramping a Spyder

ATV Llift I come in from the right side and place the left side arm of the lift directly under the bracket welded to the frame that holds the front of the CAT. The right side arm then contacts the frame proper. Once up in the air, I place jack stands up front under the lower ball joint as close...

My solution to using a Battery Maintainer...

After searching old posts and some trial and error, here's my solution to using a battery maintainer: I bought my first "battery maintainer" from Cycle Gear down in Nashville and hooked it up to a two-conductor SAE style plug that I mounted under the seat on my 2012 RT-S. I figured one of these...

    Ramping a Spyder

Get an ATV Lift I'd strongly suggest (this time anyway) going to somebody like Harbor Freight or Northern Equipment and buying one of the $100 - $130 ATV lifts. Then with three jack stands you can hold her up and ramps won't be in your way getting under it. I tried an aluminum ATV lift from...
