• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    What GPS are you using?

Main benefits of a GPS vs Cell Phone: A GPS eliminates the need for a cell signal (I know, you can probably download a map ahead of time, but if you need to change on the fly in the middle of nowhere, well...) A GPS can sit in a massive downpour and work without issue. A GPS is designed to sit...

No longer any Sponsors Advertising on SpyderLovers!

I love this forum format SO much more than Facebook. On FB, they decide what I want to see and every other thing in my news feed is an advertisement. God forbid I click on one of those -- because the next day there will be a dozen versions of whatever that item for sale was from a dozen other...

    Review: EazyRider BigBlue Spyder Jack

Yes, I've had it up pretty high and then did something like remove the seat that jostled it, and it was solid. When you put it under the bike, you remove the right side driver footboard and the jack has a brace that uses one of those screw mounting points. Then there are also a couple of U...

    Review: EazyRider BigBlue Spyder Jack

It comes totally disassembled (and weighs a ton). So you have the entire assembly, plus greasing threads, setting the position of the parts that go against the frame underneath so they hit perfectly for "your" machine, and whatnot to get it all set up the first time. I love mine. I can...

    First 'long' trip

I like the full cover too. Nothing worse than coming out in the morning to find a blob of bird poo has been etching your paint all night. :gaah:

Any ideas on Replacing Heated Grips with Non-heated Grips? 2012 RT

Grip Puppies are good, but I really like these.... Grip Buddies (don't know which one came first) but these really did a great job of making the grip thicker for my hands and they wrap around rather than slide over. I like the texture "grid" feel of the surface...

Anybody go for a Ride Today? Post about your ride (with pics?)

I was at the rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas last week, and one morning I headed out to the Queen Wilhelmina lodge. It was early-ish, and I hadn't met or seen another vehicle for miles going through the Ouichita national forest. There was mist in the pines on the shady side of the road, and...

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

Oh, oops. Yeah got the names wrong then. But the left/right side descriptions are correct. The left side as sitting on the bike is the second one I remove, as you said with the double O rings and more length, which I can't get out fast enough. Better gloves is probably the ticket. ;)

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

That actually makes sense. I didn’t think about a specific heat resistant glove. The owners manual says to ride 9 miles to get it to operating temp, which is what I did. I’ll poke around for some gloves like that. Thanks.

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

As I mentioned, I have two pairs of neoprene gloves on and it is still scalding hot. :-).

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

Yeah I end up just letting it pour around the plug until the oil subsides, and then take it out the rest of the way. But it would sure be nice to just remove it to begin with.

Any Tips for removing clutch oil drain plug before hot oil shoots out?

This really seems like a silly question, but even after changing my 2022 RT oil three times now, I have yet to find a way to get the clutch (left side) drain plug out fast enough that I don't get flooded with searing hot oil. Maybe I do too good a job getting the bike up to operating temp? Even...

Ball-mount QuadLock turning when removing phone - can it be done One handed?

For what it's worth, I have the X-Mount and if I squeeze it together (i.e., wide open I guess) once before putting the phone in, it is locked and doesn't have any slop at all. I don't know if it's a design feature or what.

Want to make it easier to remove the bugs - what wax should be used, if at all?

I've used various waxes, but between waxes, like after a ride or whatever, I always use Lucas Mist. It's a spray wax that works great for quick wipe-downs and keeping a shine and wax coat. On the windshield I think it does help the bugs come off a lot easier.

2024 Spyder issues make me wonder if I should buy yet?

Even if it had built in GPS, I'd probably still use my Garmin. I've tried using other built-in GPS's and they're always lacking. The Garmin has gone bike to bike with me and never lets me down. (And unlike the phone, it's waterproof, doesn't need a cell signal, and works well with gloves.)...

    Potentially Inflammatory: Why vests?

I always had a vest when I was still riding two wheelers, Like someone else said, I got it at my first rally, but I did slowly add lots of destination patches to it, plus a US map where I could ink in each state that I managed to put wheels into. When I changed to the spyder, I started over...

Any feedback on aftermarket seats - Ultimate vs Corbin?

I've used Corbin seats on multiple bikes and love them. Excellent quality, IMO. I did use a Mustang seat once and it was pretty good too. Not sure if they're still around. The Corbin for the spyder adds significantly more width and is much more comfortable than stock. They do take time to...

Anyone tried Handlebar weights on 2024 RT?

I have those on a 2022 RT. I basically added them as a newbie thinking I wanted a little extra length for big hands but left them anyway because I liked the look. Site says 2013 and up, so seems like they should work fine on yours.
