• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Motorcycle PPE

Since I've gotten back into two-wheeling hardcore in complementing my Spyder love affair, I'm becoming more attentive to my gear deficiencies. While I've always been ATGATT, the two areas I'm definitely improving in the near future are better boots (my TCX touring boots have been great to date...

    Slingshot

Second review in as many weeks that hit the Slingshot for its brakes. Guess Polaris knows what needs tweaking for the next model year.

    New Helmet

I've owned a number of Shoei helmets by now, easily used my Sena with all of them. I really love their helmets, best brand I've owned. Been running with the Qwest model for a few years, quiet and comfy all day long. Only wish the GT Air fit me a little better (too rough on my ears), as I'd...

    BANG!

Nothing like having a firearm explode in your face to turn you off of shooting for a lifetime. :yikes:

    Slingshot review by Matt Farrah

Eh, Farrah's strongly opinionated about most things, Spyder or other. Heck, you can tell he didn't really like the Slingshot all that much. That said, I'll cut him slack on the sloppy apexing-- how'd you all ride your Spyder for the first time, hmmm? It took me a good while to get the feel...

    Seeking Glove Advice

I've got so many gloves, it's not even funny. No, really-- it's not funny, the pairs are EVERYWHERE. :joke: For winter (I commute year-round, rain or snow), my current reliables: 1. Dainese Scout-Evo Gore-Tex gloves. The ones I use the most: very warm, armored, and TOTALLY waterproof...

Fair point Bob. Thankfully, no moose in these here parts.

    Be Careful Out There

No moose, but had a pair of lovely well-fed deer run alongside me yesterday while out riding my Ninja on the GW Parkway (not to mention the golden retriever ambling straight down the middle of Route 50 out near Middleburg on Tuesday ). I've been trying to get the last of my two-wheeler...

Polaris Slingshot can't be sold in Texas

No difference, legally. Both the T-Rex and Morgan have been sold and titled in Texas as motorcycles. IANAL, but assuming the Polaris letter is accurate-- and why wouldn't it be? They're a global company that did their research-- they have the documentation that shows the state of Texas...

F3 Demo Ride at Lone Star Rally 2014

Wait, roads have turns in Texas? Huh. :joke:

    Nanny

Pretty sure the "parking lot experiment" was my advice, but be careful! Again, "fast" = probably 10, 15 mph TOPS. With the Spyder's handlebar at full lock, *slowly* rollllll on the the throttle-- you'll start to feel like you want to be thrown to the outside. It helps then to shift your...

    Top Ideas for Safe Travel

Obviously, speed limits are always a touchy subject; while I don't want to derail the thread TOO much, I think people may be able to agree on the following: 1. In general, speed limits in the U.S. *are* set lower than the road designs can accommodate, especially on the federal highway system...

    Top Ideas for Safe Travel

, I have one on my Ninja. On my Spyder RS, I bought one of these: http://www.esicycleproducts.com/magicbrakelightflasher.html A little pricier than a Signal Dynamics box, but it comes with Spyder-specific connectors, so it's even easier to install, i.e. you're paying for convenience.

    Top Ideas for Safe Travel

Some of mine: 1. When you see stopped cars to your front waiting to turn or enter traffic, always glance at their front wheels. If the wheels aren't turning, the car isn't moving. NEVER rely on making eye contact with a driver: you can't trust any driver (if you can even *see* them in the...

    Ryding Tips

Disclaimer: I have an RS with Fox shocks, better sway bar, and thanks to an Ultimate Seat, risers, and footboards vice pegs, my ergos are closer to "standard" than sport, which on the RS *really* helps in the corners (especially the footboards-- it's dramatically easier to shift weight on the RS...

Cluster replaced, told could not tranfer existing data.

Timely post, seeing as somehow/somewhere/somewhen I seem to have developed a crack in my cluster face, just big enough to let moisture seep in. :banghead:  :cus: Eh, I'll worry about it when it no longer works. ;)

    Frame Color on the F3-S

Yeah, kind of a shame that black doesn't come with the red frame... we'd totally have ourselves a black widow Spyder then!

    Read this

Felt compelled to leave this comment: "These are REAL bikers, who throw a leg over REAL bikes, who will ride in the rain and sweat like the rest of us do under their leathers as the morning cold turns to afternoon warmth and they’re out in the middle of nowhere. People who don’t need to show...

    Slingshot

Which, in 2014, there simply is no excuse for when buying a vehicle. I'm still shocked at how many people just waltz into car, bike, boat, etc. dealerships and put down money, no questions asked, without having done any research at all, let alone comparison shopping (either in person, or...
