• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Manual transmission vs. semi automatic transmission

I love and prefer to drive manual cars. Not much more fun than "rowing your own." I ride and prefer manual motorcycles over CTV scooters. I learned to ride a Spyder on a manual RT. I bought an SE RS. Unlike a motorcycle, where a manual clutch is a genuinely useful performance device...

adapting to the Spyder and initial setup

Oh yeah, I've met some of those folks in my time. It's just that intellectually understanding something and being "forced" (as you say) to USE it aren't always one and the same. The Spyder teaches you not only that you must direct steer the Spyder, but that you CAN'T direct steer a motorcycle...

It's December 15th....where is your spyder..??

Thanks for the impressions. Do you have a manual or the semi-auto? I've heard it's very sedate bike, not one likely to get your blood racing, but like you said, a good commuter with some flexibilty.

adapting to the Spyder and initial setup

As one of the few weirdos here who went from a Spyder's three-wheels to a motorcycle's two, I feel especially qualified to confirm that counter-steering is indeed VERY real, and I have no idea how ANY motorcycle rider in history could have ever failed to notice they were counter-steering...

    Is Remapping Required ?

As a past victim of the exhaust "sweater thread pull"... all I can say is, good luck. :joke: Got a Yoshi... had popping. Got the KewlMetal intake to address the popping... had popping. (BUT got rid of that ginormous airbox, the RS is oh-so-luxurious and spacious underneath the tupperware...

It's December 15th....where is your spyder..??

Oooooh.... how do you like the Honda? That's one of the bikes I'm considering for my next two-wheeler. As for my Spyder, just got it back this weekend from two weeks (grrr) in the shop. At 17,300 miles on the ODO, in addition to oil change, tire rotation, routine check ups, I FINALLY bit...

    F3 Demo and Frunk Size

Thanks for the pics, I've got a Shoei Qwest so I'm expecting a similar fit. You said you had your Sena removed... did you *have* to remove your Sena to fit the helmet? I ask because that's a PITA if true. :(

    International Motorcycle show in NYC...

Looking forward to the show when it gets to DC in January. But I *did* get to sit in a Slingshot today for the first time at my dealer (he sells both Spyders and Slingshots). My initial impression? A lot bigger than I expected (it *is* wide), comfy enough to get in and out of (I...

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

The irony here is that what they're doing is almost certainly safer than motorcycle riding.

Why do I feel ripped off again?

Given your Baltimore location, I'm going to assume you had trouble with Pete's. In addition to the aforementioned Motosports, you have Trumbull down in Mechanicsville, and Talbot across the Bay Bridge. A couple folks here at SL back in the early days swore by Talbot's, not sure if they've kept...

    Lamonster F3 Project "Triple Threat"

Honestly, at this point, I don't see why you didn't just ask BRP to ship you the loose parts so you could build UP your F3 from scratch-- sounds like it would have been easier than working in reverse! ;)

    Am I wrong on this?

I've always happily allowed anyone to sit on my Spyder... when they've asked. Only once did I find someone sitting on the Spyder without asking. I didn't get angry, but I sure as heck dropped the Sarcasm Bomb. "Really? REALLY?" "Uh... is this your bike?" "Well, it's not *yours*, so who did...

    Received my slingshot Saturday

Soooo... any other thoughts? Fun? Handling? Braking? Completely random observation inspired by your pics: I've thought this before, but given the "open" nature of the headrests, I've wondered whether it'd be possible to strap soft luggage to the back of them for extra storage for...

    Ride ended abruptly today

Yeah... Beemer bikes as the flagship for reliability. :roflblack: Honestly? I think that, for the most part, Spyders are an exceptionally reliable *design*. Meaning, when it works, they really work. Many folks here can attest to never having anything out of the ordinary happen to them, the...

So sorry! Tech will find out the problem in a hurry (my money is on a cracked reservoir... it happens :().

    STILL RIDING ??

Joked with the service techs at my dealer today-- they've got a special for winter bike storage, I said with all the Indian summer we've been having here in D.C., they must not be filling the garage. Turns out they've done brisk business, which only made me sadder. Anything above 40 degrees...

    F3 S Demo ride

I *still* don't know when the heck my local dealers are getting any F3's for demo... grrrrrrrr.

    STILL RIDING ??

Rode on Wednesday through the snow coming down. Taking the Spyder in today for its winter service so it'll be away for a few days, but as soon as I have it back, riding through the rest of the season, and shivering appropriately. :joke:
