• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should I get new shocks (Elkas) for my 2009 GS SE5?

It all depends on what specific improvements you are looking for: For improved cornering and sway performance start with a Bajaron anti-swaybar, this is one of the best improvements you can make for the money and that's all many people really require. If you're still not satisfied increase the...

Anybody use Sea Foam in their Spyder?

There are no perfect products, they all have their flaws, and you have to first decide if you want to put -any- additives in your very expensive and high tech Spyder motor. That said this is what I use based upon years of searching, researching, and testing various products on my own vehicles...

Anybody use Sea Foam in their Spyder?

Here we go again, I keep posting about this but it seems no one listens. It all depends on what you use Seafoam for. Seafoam by today's standards is an outdated product, albeit with a still loyal following from older users. It is simply 50% pale oil, 30% Naphtha, and 20% Isopropyl Alcohol. You...

    Picking on Poor Bob

Oh no! The D.E.N.M.A.N system is angry that I blew the whistle and seems to have been able to track my IP address and I believe it's infected my computer with some type of virus! My system is overheating and strange things are happening! Ī døņ'ţ ŧhĭņk Ĩ'ļļ ßë àßlê tö pősŧ můçh łőnģêr! ®Ųŋ! ®ůŃ...

    Picking on Poor Bob

News Flash! Edward Snowdon, the NSA contractor behind the recent leaks has just revealed that DENMAN is actually an acronym for: Digitally Enhanced Numerically Manipulated Automated Notation, a supercomputer Bot originally designed by IBM to automatically author those 10,000 page congressional...

    Picking on Poor Bob

Yes, we now know BOB is just an acronym for Binary Operated Bot. "Something" claiming to be BOB showed up at Spyderfest and one brave soul took a photo. Running the photo through X-Ray analysis revealed this (viewer discretion advised):

Electrical question for you guru's... :)

An led -is- a diode. And you would need much more than a diode and relays to truly isolate an add on bus panel from the primary oem circuitry when it comes to electrical induction. Anyway I'm well aware of the CAN bus, however just adding a simple led to the dash light circuit or any circuit...

    Gloves too tight?

This is not uncommon, tight gloves can be the cause but usually not. Even without a death grip the constant squeezing of the throttle can cause numbness and cramping. You can try a Cramp Buster or a mechanical or electronic cruise control to get some relief.

BRP Comfort Seat Rider Back Support

For the rider the Utopia backrest is hard to beat http://www.utpr.com/spyder.html although the new design by SmoothSpyder looks very interesting: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?49577-Smoothspyder-Dual-Mode-Backrest-Review

Electrical question for you guru's... :)

Tapping into the dash lighting for a couple of leds is perfectly harmless as long as proper wiring techniques are used. If someone doesn't know how to tap and wire correctly they shouldn't tap into any circuit.

    Picking on Poor Bob

:agree: I'm waiting for the Discovery channel to do one of their OCD shows starring him plugging away at his keyboard. Maybe we can arrange an intervention of Spyderlovers during the filming. :roflblack: Not picking on you Bob, we all seem to have OCD issues when it comes to reading this forum...

Electrical question for you guru's... :)

:agree: Just use a Posi-Tap connector. Don't worry about the amperage, leds that small draw next to nothing.

Keeping strangers off and a subwoofer...

After I installed the SPY5000m alarm I took the Spyder to a nearby city and parked it in a parking lot very near a very popular walking/biking path where hundreds of people pass by. Then I armed it and walked about 50 yards away where I could watch it unseen. It only took about ten minutes...

    Footboards or footpegs?

I have the Rivco floorboards and highway pegs. Use the floorboards 95% of the time. Would never go back to just foot pegs. It's so great riding with your feet and legs in a comfortable position. Highly recommend the Rivco's for the GS/RS.

Thought of trying a different GPS than Zumo 660

Been using a Nuvi for two years with no problems whatsoever, even in the pouring rain (with nothing more than a baggie and elastic band). I refuse to spend $600 for a Zumo then worry about it getting stolen. The Nuvi cost me $60 for a refurb and works perfectly. You could buy ten of these for...

I also have the SPY5000m alarm, it's a lot less expensive than the Scorpion and comes with a proximity sensor. The proximity sensor is a must if you want to keep people off the seat. I first had the the Gorilla alarm which has only a shock sensor (and a tilt which is worthless on the Spyder)...

Elka Stage 1 and Pitbull Shock relocators

The general consensus of those with the same set up is that with the shock relocators you can reduce the factory set preload on the shocks so the ride won't be so jarring. Go for a test ride and bring the shock adjustment tools. Reduce the preload one to two full turns and test again. Repeat...
