• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    It sucks to get old.

Know what you mean In the same situation. I just turned 71 and wife will be 69. To top it off we live in a 55+ community. People passing away, going to assisted living or nursing homes or just going to live near their kids. Fortunately for us, we live a 1/2 from our son and grandchildren who...

    transitioning

Not a necessity I have a 13 RT Ltd with the 998 engine. Bought it a year ago. Just finished an 8 day ride in the mountains of VA and NC and then back to FL. I felt no need at all to have the bigger engine. Performed extremely well. Yes, you run at a higher rpm than the 1330. The...

I put 2 shorties on my HD and got better reception with radio and CB than the long. Have not changed the Spyder.

    Where to retire to

I moved to FL. Yep, hot in summer so I ride a lot in the morning. Live in a 55+ area in Deland that is a great location to get to plenty of good restaurants where there's hardly ever a wait and only a 1/2 hour from the beach. THE REALLY GOOD THING IS NO STATE INCOME TAX!!!!

I really want to like this bike...

You'll come around Don't know your full situation. I came off of a HD Ultra Classic and it took me 4-500 miles to get comfortable. I bought a 2013 RT Ltd with 9900 miles. Definitely knew I needed a backrest so I bought one and put it on. Put on grip covers to increase the grip size and...

    WUSSIN' OUT....

Smart move.through That's called riding smart. I lead a ride every Tuesday from our 55+ community. From October through May it's a lunch ride leaving at 10 or 11 depending where my destination is. But, come June 1st through September it becomes a breakfast ride leaving at 8:30 and getting...

    Oil Level

Oil Usage Sounds like a lot. My '13 RT uses about 1/2 quart between oil changes. I check it and tire pressure every 500 miles.

    hand grips

I agree that the grip covers are the way to go. Got mine at the dealer but don't remember the brand. If you have big hands like I do they are more comfortable and easy to put on. After a couple years easy enough to cut them off and replace without spending a lot of money.

    Helmet Pads Cleaning.......

I agree with what Bob D posted. That is how I do my liner. The only other thing I would add is that for soap I use my regular shampoo. Think about it. Most of the oils are from your hair so it seems logical to use hair shampoo. Gives it a nice fresh smell also.

    is fall here

Another 90+ days of 90 or better heat in Florida. No complaints. Retired, ride in the AM and home when the heat is high or ride at night. Oh yeah, also ride all winter in average 70 degree temps rather than putting the bike away. For that, I'll put up with the summer heat!!!

    Florida motorcycle insurance rates

FL Insurance I have Allstate for cars and Spyder. I have my uninsured motorist on the cars stacked and that keeps the price of the coverage on the Spyder in line. I have higher than normal limits for liability also. Less than $400 per year. That is in Deland, FL. Other areas may be more...

Riding in the rain ..what's the trick

Lots of good thoughts. The only thing I can add is that a high Def amber helmet helps a lot. I have one that drops down and then I lower my windshield so I see over it. If you can't get an amber drop down then pick up a pair of amber sunglasses or clip on. Not only great in the rain but also...

    Dragons breath!!!!!

Check my post Just posted my fix on 5/16. Look for my post entitled Got Rid of My Hot Foot. It's the 4th one down. Cost me $2.50 plus a little black paint. Pictures on the post. I found out about the other blockers but this forces everything out the bottom so you can't use both the...

    steve from brp answered

Just the way I think Have not had this problem because I have a 2013 that I bought a year ago this week. But I must say that as much as I like my RTLtd. If I was going out to buy a new bike right now I would be giving serious consideration to something other than a Spyder because I don't see...
